What kind of model are you using? Do you have some code you could share? Yes, I believe you need to have your OpenEntityManagerInViewFilter before WicketFilter (or use WicketServlet). If WicketFilter decides that the current request is its to take care of, it shouldn't be forwarding to the rest of the chain. Therefore, the OpenEntityManagerInViewFilter won't get a chance to do anything.
