Re: [xwiki-users] How to manually migrate a page to Nested Pages?

If you had this before the upgrade

URL: /xwiki/bin/view/A/B
Breadcrumb: Home / X / Y / B

then after the upgrade (without any migration) you have

URL: /xwiki/bin/view/A/B
Breadcrumb: Home / A / B

So you "loose" the parent-child hierarchy. Actually the information is not
lost, but the new breadcrumb doesn't use it. The new breadcrumb uses by
default the page location (what you have in the URL). So you have 3 options:

(1) You don't care about the old parent-child hierarchy. In this case you
don't need to do anything.
(2) You want to keep using the parent-child hierarchy. In this case you
need to read about hierarchyMode configuration in
http://platform.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/Features/ContentOrganization/NestedPagesMigration/
(3) You want to convert / migrate the parent-child hierarchy to the
Nested-Pages hierarchy. In this case you either use the Nested Pages
Migrator, which automates this for you, or you do it manually my moving
pages around (e.g. in the example above you would move page B from A to X/Y
so that its location becomes X/Y/B).

Hope this helps,
Marius

Thanks Marius for this detailed answer.

I am installing xwiki 8.3 version and i am using this version to import

data , afraid if something happen the data will be lost. Just found this

upgrade

I have read some notes, and tells me to backup several files/folder but need
to do MERGE COPY INSTEAD OF PURE COPY. What is mean by merge copy? I don't
understand and don't have idea how to backup it and insert into newer

It says:

“
Then copy the configuration files and the permanent directory from the old
installation to the new one. Ideally you should not copy over the configuration
files exactly since the new version could have added new configuration options
and thus ideally you should do a merge instead of a pure copy. Another strategy
is to use the new configuration files, not copy over the old configuration
files and instead manually edit the new configuration to make the same changes
as you have may done before (If you've never touched the configuration files
then there's nothing to do obviously!).
“

What is not clear? It’s pretty clear to me: "you should not copy over the
configuration files exactly since the new version could have added new
configuration options”.

FYI I’ve added a way to automated a bit the merge but I fear this may confuse
you even more:
http://platform.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/AdminGuide/Upgrade#HUpgradingthestandarddistribution

Re: [xwiki-users] Upgrading xwiki

Thanks Vincent for fast reply. I didn't clear this statement.

"you should not copy over the configuration files exactly since the new
version could have added new configuration options”.

If i can't copy over the configuration files exactly, so how do i copy the
configuration files?.
I am trying to copy the files in older version and paste it in newer version
seems it is not copying and nothings change in newer version, that's
confusing me.

I have import a lot of document in older version and now want to back up and
insert all doc to newer version. How do i make it works? Why, after i copy
the web-INF files and paste it in new version, nothings change..

Please advice.

Re: [xwiki-users] Nested document killed {{spaceindex}} macro?

2016-12-15 Thread Pascal BASTIEN
Thxs for your advices but I didn't found a way to displayed last edited
documents but finally I edited the code to resolve my use case.
My spaceindex
{{spaceindex sort="modificationDate" count="20" /}}
displayed this nice screen now:
https://snag.gy/ia6XOZ.jpg

Imodified spaceindex macro to list all last doc (nested and terminale page)
from current space:
/bin/edit/Main/SpaceIndex?editor=object with
*
  #if ("$!spaceMacroParam" != '')
#set ($spaceParam = $spaceMacroParam)
  #end
#set ($docNames = $services.query.hql("where doc.space like ? or doc.space like
? order by
$sortQuery").addFilter('currentlanguage').addFilter('hidden').setLimit($limit).bindValues(["${spaceParam}","${spaceParam}.%"]).execute())
  #if ($docNames.size() == $limit)
##set ($docCount = $services.query.xwql('where doc.space =
:space').bindValue('space', $spaceParam).addFilter('unique').count())
#set ($docCount = $services.query.hql("where doc.space like ? or doc.space
like
?").bindValues(["${spaceParam}","${spaceParam}.%"]).addFilter('unique').count())
#set ($remaining = $mathtool.sub($docCount, $limit))
#if ($remaining > 0)
(% class="documentListMore" %) (((
//Liste des $limit derniers documents $sortMessg.//
{{html}}▶{{/html}} //[[Consulter la liste
complète>>Main.SpaceIndex||queryString="space=$spaceParam"]]//
)))
#end
  #end
  {{html}}
#displayDocumentList($docNames false [])
*
and edited displayDocumentList macro in ./templates/macros.vm to add nice
folder icon for parent page:
*
  #foreach($document in $documentList)
#if ($document.getSpace() != $previousSpace && $displaySpaces)
  #if($velocityCount > 1)  #end ## Close previous space
item if needed
${escapetool.xml($document.getSpace())} ## Open new space item
  #set($previousSpace = $document.getSpace())
#end
#if ($document.name == 'WebHome')
  ${escapetool.xml($document.getPlainTitle())}
#else
  ${escapetool.xml($document.getPlainTitle())}
#end
  #end
  #if($displaySpaces)
*
I haven't page and parent name with dot may be I will check my code again when
I have some (I'm too lazy)

A better fix would be to add a new sort parameter in treeview but I didn't
found the query in xwiki code.

Hmm.. if you ask what it's meant by merge than I guess you probably are not
in software development or system administration, in which case I suggest
you contact your system administrator or an experienced software developer,
they can help you do the installation/upgrading. Regards.

Re: [xwiki-users] Upgrading xwiki

2016-12-15 Thread Mahomed Hussein
You should probably do a full-backup as per the backup instructions and then
let the upgrade wizard handle the conversion/transfer for you. If you are
installing a new instance of XWiki and want to restore the old files/documents,
then you need to say that so people can help you.

As for "what is merge copy", Vincent's response was very clear. If you don't
understand what "merge" means, then this link will help -
https://lmgtfy.com/?q=define%3A+merge

Basically it means to combine the old configuration files and new configuration
files. You do this "manually" by comparing the differences between the old and
the new files and ending up with a new configuration that has your custom
changes from the old file (where relevant) plus the new settings from the new
file. In most cases though if you are doing an in-place upgrade, the wizard
does this for you (or at least makes it easier).

That being said, I agree with Cuong Hoang, you probably need to get someone
with a bit more knowledge to do this for you.

Kind regards,

Thanks Vincent for fast reply. I didn't clear this statement.

"you should not copy over the configuration files exactly since the new version
could have added new configuration options”.

If i can't copy over the configuration files exactly, so how do i copy the
configuration files?.
I am trying to copy the files in older version and paste it in newer version
seems it is not copying and nothings change in newer version, that's confusing
me.

I have import a lot of document in older version and now want to back up and
insert all doc to newer version. How do i make it works? Why, after i copy the
web-INF files and paste it in new version, nothings change..

Please advice.

[xwiki-users] How to suppress default date in xForms based on XWiki Class

2016-12-15 Thread Gerritjan Koekkoek
We have classes with date properties

Of these properties we set "Empty Is Today" = false

In the sheet we use

; $escapetool.xml($doc.displayPrettyName('d1',
false, false)) : $doc.display('d1')

It displays a date and when saving the property is saved with that date while
user did not enter any date. The date seems to be connected to the
class-page-date?

The requirement is that the field can be left empty!

Google Groups UI is goofy, and I hate reading it online, but the email
functionality is pretty good and very reliable. I manage a couple of them
and we've had good luck.

[xwiki-users] How to translate Tooltips for Watchlist icons?

2016-12-15 Thread Julio Brum
Hi,

My wiki is in Portuguese (pt_BR), but the Tooltips of the Watchlist icons
at the top of the page are in English. How do I translate?

I need, for example, that the text "watch this page" be in Portuguese.

Best Regards,
Julio

Re: [xwiki-users] How to translate Tooltips for Watchlist icons?

2016-12-15 Thread Marius Dumitru Florea
Hi Julio,

Go to http://l10n.xwiki.org and search for the tooltip text, e.g. "Watch
this page", using the dedicated search panel on the left. It will take you
to a dedicated search page. Searching using the "Translated text" field
doesn't bring any results but using the "Original text" field works.
Setting the language field to "pt_BR" narrows the results.

Hope this helps,
Marius
