The incumbent will be responsible for the design and build of software components working alongside other seasoned professionals. The current applications in the development pipeline are service oriented in nature and do not require a UI to be developed. *Principal Duties of Position:* - Work with the solution architect and Java architect to understand the Java components that require development. - Estimate the time required for development of software modules - Implement and enhance build processes - Develop software platforms utilizing new and emerging technologies maintaining a careful balance between new and reliable. - Be part of a sprint team working in collaboration with Java developers, QA analysts, UX designers, business analysts, and Pega developers. · Evaluate new and emerging technologies for placement within the applications being developed. · Development of software applications utilizing Java enterprise concepts and other related tools and technologies. · Build automated testing modules for the code being programmed. *Description of Skills Required to Perform this Job:* · Bachelor's degree, preferably in business, information systems or related disciplines or equivalent combination of education and experience. · 5+ years of Java development experience. · Familiarity with EJB, JMS, and JDBC (SQL) · Experience with data abstraction tools such as Ibatis, Hibernate and JPA · Prior experience to abstraction through programming with the assistance of the Spring framework · Demonstrated track record in previous large scale enterprise development efforts · Proven experience of implementing best practice object oriented concepts · Driven desire to excel and innovate. *Title: Java Architect* *Department: Product Development* *Reports to: Software Development Manager* *Summary of Position:* The Java Architect is responsible for the architectural design of the Java platform within multi tiered software applications that empower the business. The Java architect is responsible for establishing build practices, source code control policies and leading a group of developers building SOA applications in an agile fashion.
