2001-08-17 Thread Jason Kerr

Yes, I misinterpreted the Delivered-To: header as being a valid account. I
went by the To: header in the message.

I guess a better question/solution would be to bounce mail with invalid
From: To: headers

I don't use that email account, it only exists in my domain
information...durn spammers.

Duh!

Courier-IMAP pop3d-ssl

2001-08-17 Thread Brandon Ramirez

I'm running qmail 1.03 and vpopmail 4.9.10 on my
server. After finally being able to get roaming users to work, i realized that
it only authorizes my IP for relaying when i connect to the regular pop3 server
running vchkpw.

but i'm also running Courier-IMAP 1.39 and when i
check my mail using the SSL enabled POP server it doesn't do it. I've examined
the source code for the authvchkpw module and it does call the open_smtp()
function. I'd like to have it so i can check my email using either server and it
enabled relaying for me.

I'm using this mailing list because it still
relates to vchkpw and i don't know whether or not the Courier team actually
maintains that module.

any help would be appreciated,
Brandon

bounce-no-mailbox, but mail delivered?

2001-08-17 Thread Jason Kerr

I have been receiving a bit of SPAM lately, and I have the
bounce-no-mailbox configured. I don't understand why this mail would get
delivered. I used to have a catchall mailbox specified, but removed it
many reboots ago.

Can someone tell me to RTFM or something?

Thanks,
Jason

You might want to take a look at the latest vqadmin devel
version. it understands and displays the users .qmail file
content, forwarding/vacaction.

I just looked through the vpopmail code. Take a look at the
vpalias.c file. This file is included if --enable-valias=n.
It has all the functions needed to manage .qmail files
in a domain directory. For example:

char *valias_select( char *alias, char *domain );
char *valias_select_next();
int valias_insert( char *alias, char *domain, char *alias_line);
int valias_delete( char *alias, char *domain);
char *valias_select_all( char *alias, char *domain );
char *valias_select_all_next(char *alias);

With these functions you can manage all the .qmail files.
the valias command line program uses these functions.

qmailadmin hasn't been updated to use these functions.

btw: for vpopmail-4.10, it looks stable. Unless there are
any more bugs or major features needed, lets move it
to a stable 5.0 release.

With MySQL, it is reasonably easy to implement, some select queries
is
all you need but it would be kinda cool if one could use the
functions
with cdb too, especially as there is a vpopmail extension to PHP now
(although I got some doubts whether it is such a wise thing to run
a complete Apache/PHP environment under vpopmail:vchkpw but...) as I
imagine that many people would like to code such stuff in PHP.

Ah ok.

I haven't really had a deeper look into the .qmail stuff but as you
can't
have anymore than one user per email address ([EMAIL PROTECTED] is
[EMAIL PROTECTED]), it shouldn't be such a problem to use them for
autoreponders/vacation given qmail doesn't go crazy if there's .qmail
AND
a Maildir for an user.

This would also help the admins that need to fix broken installations
etc cause they knew that all not plain Maildir stuff is in
domain.com/
and not somewhere down the way in the users messes...

While we're on it, what about forwarders to multiple email addresses,
so something like a small mailinglist? I've had several cases in the
past where users deliberately needed this and I had to set it up by
hand cause I didn't want to give them ezmlm access...

Listing all users IS in the library via "vauth_getall". However, showing
aliases/forwards isn't yet (only mysql, I think). Ken mentioned to me that
he hopes to integrate the valias functions into the API, but has not had
time to do it yet.

I tend to think that while .qmail files are still used for alias/forwards
for some auth modules, it would be easier to manage them when kept in the
domain directory, rather than user directories.

I know this will be considered blasphemy or something cause it would
probably involve a rather serious amount of work, but wouldn't it be
wiser to stick all this stuff, including things like fetching all
users of a domain etc pp into libvpopmail so other code could use it

Take a look, it maybe interesting: universal vchkpw for IMAP, APOP, POP3 & SMTP

2001-08-17 Thread Vladimir Kabanov

Good day!

after some work on sources of qmail & vpopmail I made some modifications in
qmail-popup and in vpopmail's vchkpw to provide APOP & CRAM-MD5 autentication.

If u will decide to use these files -- it will be possible to use compiled vchkpw as
autentication module for Courier-IMAP
(just tell him to use vchkpw, not authvchkpw) and also for SMTP autentication (plain &
cram-md5)

If u are interesting u may use that files (that not DIFF files, i still dont know how
to operate with them -- its files that u may just put over original files of qmail and
vpopmail and then recompile).

Hope it will be helpful tool. ;)

P.S. to make it work, you have to allow storing of clear-text passwords.

Please contact for any questions, troubles and suggestions.

Best wishes,
Vladimir Kabanov.

2001-08-17 Thread cpax

Hello, im testing a box with vpopmail and mysql, i just want make sure one
thing. Say i want to test
other --configure-parameters or compile 4.10.30 (just about to dl .32), and are
about to install-strip. Say the databases and tables in mysql, do they need to
be removed (eg # mysqladmin drop vpopmail -ppassword) each time i make
install-strip in vpopmail or can install-strip just "overwrite" the database and
keep it consistent? Is this possible, or do i need to remove the old db each
time i reinstall vpopmail?

One other Q, even though i configured vpopmail with --enable-sqwebmail-pass=n
the sqwebmail-pass file still shows up in the Maildir's. (4.10.30)

TIA

Fairly generic qmail installation, not sure if this was enabled by
default(FreeBSD 4.3 Stable port with a few extra patches).

Messanger (again a la 4.7X version in particular, have not tested with others
