I am really at the end of my rope and request help urgently please Below this is a copy of the original email regarding the whole problem for reference. I am trying to set vpopmail up on a remote server (for someone else) and everything seems to work except for using a client to recieve email. The problem is (using netscape) after setting up the user, that the client can't or won't authenticate the user, so preventing any email from being received. I have also installed qmailadmin and that is all working, i.e. I can create new users, passwords etc and when checking the vpopmail directory the new users are listed under the domain. Also if mail is sent to the new user, the mail appears in the new users mail directory and can be read using an editor. I have set vpopmail up to use Mysql for authentication and added the username/password in the vmysql.h file in the vpopmailmail source prior to compiling. I have also checked that mysql is running. I have also setup a test user in vpopmail using vadduser and the new test user shows up in qmailadmin. I have setup the user under Netscape Messenger on a seperate machine as user%domain.com (which works on my own local system) however Messenger, when get mail is clicked asks first for the password and then replies with unable to authenticate. hi all iam using Netscape mail server due to the cost, i have shifted to Qmail Nice ... :) what is my problem is how do i convert the existing mails from netscape mail server to qmail server if not, how do i ask my existing user to check pull mail from existing mail server to here Maybe you can advice your Netscape server to resend all stored and queued mail via a relay-server to your qmail-box. iam using Netscape mail server due to the cost, i have shifted to Qmail my qmail setup running fine, i have setup like this Qmail+vpopmail+mysql+qmailadmin+sqwebmail about 2 weeks ago I migrated from Netscape Message Server for that a little program were created to parse LDIF-file which could be created by netscape export. all accounts were succesfully processed (including passwords in SHA-1 format). but messages... their were leaved on old server. from where they could be taken by users by themselves, i dont know how to resolve this automatically.

I wrote a little perl script that would query the MySQL db once every hour or so, and collect all the users who had a clear text password set and weren't the postmaster. From that, I built a config file for fetchmail, then ran fetchmail against the old server (still running), and reinjected the mail into the new qmail server. Good Luck! any advice hari Dave W

Due to an unexpected system crash, I ended up making a somewhat hurried migration from vpopmail 4.9.8 and sqwebmail 0.99 on a solaris 2.6 system to vpopmail 5.0 and sqwebmail 3.0 on a solaris 8 box. Mail delivery and sqwebmail work perfectly, but strangely, vchkpw itself (and thus, pop3 access) is broken. Aside from parsing Netscape's message format (no idea what would be involved in this), you could of course simply fetch the data over pop3 and save it in the maildir of the user. If you don't have cleartext passwords available, then you could have vpopmail log them to some file (although I guess you'd need to patch it in order to do this). HI guys, I have installed and works great qmail with vpopmail and sqwebmail, I notice though, after creating serveral users, (created a script with all user name) I end up with directories called A B C etc... which contains users, I check with qmailadmin and they look ok. Just wonder is this normal? HI guys, I know this is not the right list, but I hope someone can give me an answer on this. I have about 3000 users on a domain now and I have vqadmin but I cannot see all users when I do select show users then type the domain name there. I can see all users on qmailadmin. THANKS, REMO

Bounced Mail
I installed Qmail + Vpopmail with Mysql support and having some wierd issues. I can create domains fine and users, but when i send those users email to even the default domain i get a bounce saying [EMAIL PROTECTED]:Sorry, no mailbox here by that name. vpopmail (#5.1.1) but the user still gets his mail. SegFaults instead of error codes?
Hello VPopMail List! I've noticed that sometimes the VPopMail utilities will SegFault instead of returning an error number or an error message.
