How can I add a user by using vadduser automatically

Debian Packages

2001-12-02 Thread Iain

Hi,

I have prepared some debian packages for Vpopmail 5.0 and Qmailadmin 1.0.
They are available at:

deb http://linux.myspinach.org/debian ./

You need to make sure you use ezmlm-idx version 0.53-3.1 and autorespond 2.0
Also the version of qmail in debian 2.2 (stable) doesn't include symbolic
links from /var/qmail/bin -> /usr/sbin/ so you need to add these manually or
use a later version.

These packages should be considered beta but they work fine for me.

cheers, Iain.

Subject: MySQL-3.23.46 & Vpopmail 5.0

Hi,

It's 1am here and my eyes aching me so much I can't write ;-)

I was doing an upgrade of my oldie mysqld version (which doesn't
support replication :>) to the "newest" 3.23.46.
And after the upgrade I'm getting this message:

[root@areion vpopmail-5.0]# telnet 0 110

Connected to 0 (0.0.0.0).
Escape character is '^]'.
+OK <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

-ERR authorization failed
Connection closed by foreign host.

When I turn off the new version of mysql and start the old version,
everything works fine:
[root@areion vpopmail]# telnet 0 110

Connected to 0 (0.0.0.0).

I was testing it on 5.0pre5 so I thought: Maybe I'm stupid, and sth
wrong configured in that version. I've downloaded the 5.0 final, and
run configure with these parameters:

./configure --prefix=/home/vpopmail --enable-qmaildir=/var/qmail --enable-a

--enable-auth-logging=y --enable-valias=y --enable-passwd=n --enable-hardquo

Everything seems to be OK.
So WTF is going on ? I don't know.
My OS is Linux, mysql doesn't use my.cnf, replication was there cause
I've installed binary version (I've made rpm --rebuild on my linux box

No Local domains

2001-12-02 Thread Dave Lewis

I have qmail and vpopmail and courier-imap for checking mail (both pop and
imap )
working great now.. except that I have one local domain

When I remove the domain from the locals file and add it in with vadddomain
everything seems ok.. files are created it appears in the virtualdomains
file and
I can access it with qmailadmin.. there are 2 problems though...

1) the domain doesn't show up where my other domains are...
they are all in /var/spool/mail/domains/

it appears in the vpopmail domain dir (/var/spool/mail/popmail/domains/)
.. I can't remember how
I got the other ones to appear in a different dir ??? any thoughts..

2) more importantly.. I can't receive mail.. mail doesn't seem to bounce..
it just disappears.
I can logg in and check mail but nothing is there.. nothing get's
written to the dirs either..
all this time the other domains are functioning fine..

This is really fustrating.. since I've seen the ease of virtual domains
this remaining local domain
is a real pain.

Can anyone shed some light on this

I beg to differ about the sqwebmail list. I've gotten spam from it in the

Really, are you sure? Now I'm on best-of-qmail, but I don't remember
ever getting spam when I was on the regular list. Lots of
Outlook-based
clueless virus replies, but these were from subscribers.

*Am* I getting. 3,4,5 a day. Since installing TMDA it's the only spam
I
get, so it's conspicuous. Other ezmlm-run lists I'm on from which I
*never* receive spam are [EMAIL PROTECTED], [EMAIL PROTECTED],
[EMAIL PROTECTED], [EMAIL PROTECTED], [EMAIL PROTECTED] and
[EMAIL PROTECTED] I assume all these lists have the -u option
enabled.

Not sure about the vpopmail list, but this exact same argument just finished
on the qmail list, which is also an open list - and thus spam friendly.

On the qmail list, the major reasons for the opne configuration were
ego-based, and political -- which I sincerely hope is not the case on here.

How much spam were you getting? I have not been noticing any significant
spam on this list.

Harry

My apologies for the test message, but now I know why I've been getting

so much spam on this list; surprisingly (to me) it is set up without
ezmlm's -u option:

-u User posts only. ezmlm-make sets up the list so that
posts and archive access is restricted to sub-
scribers. These are addresses subscribed to the main
list, the digest, or added manually to the address
database in dir/allow/ which accommodates addresses
from e.g. subscribers working from an address other
 than their subscriber address.

Is there any reason for allowing spammers to post to this list?
