Did you do svc -h /service/qmail-send to have qmail-send to reread locals?
If you installed per LWQ, then you can do qmailctl reload.

Did you read the faq?

http://www.inter7.com/vpopmail/FAQ.txt

- uses one uid/gid for all email accounts
  two types of email addresses
  1) for domains in /var/qmail/control/locals the email
 addresses are:  [EMAIL PROTECTED]
 pop authentication user name is: user

  2) for "virtual" domains in /var/qmail/control/virtualdomains
 addresses are of the form [EMAIL PROTECTED]
 pop authentication user name is:
user%virtualdomain or [EMAIL PROTECTED] depending on email
client

So, if you have "mail.spritux.com" in /var/qmail/control/locals, qmail will
try to deliver to [EMAIL PROTECTED] locally, and not to vpopmail
virtualdomains.

[vchkpw] vpasswd password length

Hi,

Is there a reason why vpasswd is limited to 15 character password?

mail# vpasswd test 01234567890123456
Error: password too long

If I change the clear password length to 32, will there be some consequence
that I might regret?

In vpopmail.h:

Your question should have been started as a new thread, rather than a

That being said, yes, the Inter7 website is currently down. The

Well excuse me. Did you give us any information about it? If so I must

[vchkpw] question about adding a new domain

2003-11-07 Thread Gary
Hi all,

Ok i'm got vpopmail installed on my qmail server, now i have a quick
question about adding domains

when setting up a new domain do i set it up as just

vadddomain domain.com
or as
vadddomain mail.domain.com ( assuming mail. is the mx record in dns )

I think it is the first one but jsut want to be sure, since i m adding about
40 domains and don't want to do it all then have to redo :)

Cheers,

Gary

I've only been running qmail for about a year. Maybe someone on the

You will need to recompile vpopmail and follow the instructions in
the README.mysql file carefully. I can say with a good degree of
certainty that your mail accounts will remain unaffected. But as
always, a backup is a good idea. I have done this several times with
no problems.

Lets say you have the standard install for vpopmail, as I did, using
cdbs to store account info, you would run the following command after
your created your mysql database:

~vpopmail/bin/vconvert -c -m domain1..domain2..etc or don't specify a
domain name to do all.
This then takes all your accounts and migrates them for you.

Re: [vchkpw] Integration of SpamAssassin + qmailadmin

2003-01-18 Thread Gary Stewart
Just wanted to point out that I've been using SpamAssassin through
mailfilter by putting |maildrop mailfilter in the .qmail-default
file. Now someone goes into the qmailadmin and setup a "catch all"
rule for the domain, in effect, overwriting the .qmail-default file
and turns off the spam filtering. Has anyone else been running into
this?

How stable would you say 5.3.12 is? I'm thinking of using it. I've
been having wierd things happening to me in the past with vQadmin and
Qmailadmin fighting eachother and writing over the database with a
hashed copy. From what I gathered, vQadmin was writing everything to
cdb, while qmailadmin was using sql directly. Any change I made in
vqadmin I had to run vconvert -c -m. yadda yadda. long story short,
it got all hosed. :) I think I fixed that by getting the latest
vqadmin and qmailadmin, now its working great. Next step is upping
sqwebmail, I had to install a hack script to restart the authdaemon
every 30 minutes because for some reason after that nobody can log
in. hrmph, i suppose it has something to do with the clearcache.pl
script? Thing is I understand nothing about that, and documentation
on it has been kind of sketchy. maybe i'm not looking at the right
place? well if anything doing it over will probably solve the
problem. :) I'm just wondering if I should try it with the latest
vchkpw code just yet, or if you feel that I'm going to experience a
massive meltdown.
Cheers.

Re: [vchkpw] Vpopmail spamassassin suggestions

2003-01-09 Thread Gary Stewart
I just setup spamassassin the other day, the way I do it is by
putting this line in the .qmail-default for the domain.

|maildrop mailfilter

then have a file called mailfilter in the same directory. change the
VPOP line to whatever you had in your .qmail-default, or you can set
whatever you need it to do with the mail.
[mailfilter]

VPOP="| /var/qmail/vpopmail/bin/vdelivermail ''
/var/qmail/vpopmail/domains/glizard.com/postmaster"
VHOME=`/var/qmail/vpopmail/bin/vuserinfo -d $EXT@$HOST`

if ( $SIZE < 262144 )
{
   exception {
   xfilter "/usr/bin/spamc -f -u $EXT@$HOST"
   }
}

if (/^X-Spam-Flag: *YES/)
{
   # try filtering it using user-defined rules
   exception {
   include $VHOME/Maildir/.mailfilter
   }
   # then try delivering it to a Spam folder

   exception {
   # to "$VPOP"
   to "$VHOME/Maildir/spam/"
   }
   # ah well, I guess they'll just have to live with
disappointment
   exception {
   to "$VPOP"
   }
}
else
{
   exception {
   include $VHOME/Maildir/.mailfilter
   }
   exception {
   to "$VPOP"
   }
}

Hope this helps,
Gary

FreeBSD 4.11 & vpopmail

2001-01-23 Thread Gary Wong

Hi List,

I am using FreeBSD 4.11 with vpopmail-4.9.8

gcc -I. -Icdb -g -O2 -Wall -c vpopmail.c
vpopmail.c: In function `vset_default_domain':
vpopmail.c:1441: warning: implicit declaration of function `host_in_locals'
gcc -I. -Icdb -g -O2 -Wall -c md5.c

I am wondering, how to get rid of the above statement regarding
vset_default_domain?

That one kind of bugs me.

Can't Create Temp File

2000-10-16 Thread Gary Richardson

Hey,

I need to set up autoresponders for existing accounts. I create
/home/vpopmail/domains///.qmail, but no mail gets
delivered; it just queues up until I remove the file.

When I watch the error log I get the following error:

delivery 55009: deferral: Can't_create_tempfile_(#4.3.0)/

here is the .qmail file:

/home/vpopmail/domains/marketingtips.com/garytest/Maildir
| cat > /tmp/garytest

Thanks.

.qmail processing when a Maildir exists

2000-10-11 Thread Gary Richardson

Good day,

I need to set up a forward for a maildir that already exists. The problem is
that the .qmail-username file seems to be ignored if a maildir exists for the
user. Is this right?

How can I make deliveries always look for a .qmail file? The install guide says
that it should automatically.

Thanks.
