problems with vpopmail
hi, i am running a linuxbox with well working qmail. i have normal passwd-users with Maildir-support. now i would like to move over to vpopmail. i set up a subdomain in bind for testing purposes (test.mydomain.com). after that, i compiled and installed vpopmail 3.4.9 (ok,it's old but should work for first-steps-tesing) without any troubles. following the install-file from that vpopmail-tarfile i set up the new vpopmail-driven domain "test.mydom.." as well as a new user called "[EMAIL PROTECTED]". these commands manipulated qmails-control files and after restarting qmail, i am able to send emails to "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" directly from console. mails are stored in ~vpopmail/domains/test.mydomain.com/jg/Maildir/new. ok, fine, but trying to send an email from a machine somewhere else on the net always ends up with that message bounced by qmail telling me "sorry, no mailbox by that name ...". i don't know what went wrong. somebody who can help me ? i spent several hours on this problem; maybe you have the right hint for me ? -- regards,jens --- instant networks - netzwerkmanagment & internetfullservices http://www.instant-networks.de

hi, i recently switched over to vpopmail, but i can't get it working for me. i followed installation instruction step-by-step, but after setting up a new vpopmail handled virtualdoman with vadddomain and a user with vadduser, any email to this user is bounced by qmail with an error saying "sorry, no mailbox by that name ". i verified all my steps again and again and i can't find any mistakes in my configurationfiles. anybody who has experienced and solved this problem ? -- gruss,jens --- instant networks - netzwerkmanagment & internetfullservices http://www.instant-networks.de

problems with latest vpopmail
dear list, today i downloaded and compiled vpopmail with romaing-users-support. well, so far it works. but i do need quota-support as well, so i compiled vpopmail again with both roaming users and quota support. i followed the steps described in INSTALL exactly, but compilation always fails with quota-support enabled. anybody who can tell me what's going wrong? i don't want to flood this list with make's output, but i can send it to anybody who wants to help me by email. -- gruss,jens --- instant networks - netzwerkmanagment & internetfullservices
recompiling vpopmail is dangerous ?
hello, i am running a qmail+vpopmail+sqwebmail box with lots of domains and hundreds of vpopmail-users. my question now is: if i ever have to recompile and install my vpopmail package in order to add additional functions configure offers, will this affect existing vpopmail domaims & users ? is it possible to compile and install vpopmail with its base settings, if a new installation fails to work ? we have a lot of important customers and cannot risk to loose any of them! -- regards,jens --- instant networks - netzwerkmanagment & internetfullservices
vpopmail5.0 relaible?
hi, right now i am setting up a new qmail&vpopmail&sqwebamil box. on inter7.com i found release 5.0 of vpopmail. i am going to setup qmail 1.03, sqwebmail 3.00 and vpopmail 4.10.x. may i use 5.0 instead 4.10.x of vpopmail in combination with the other packages or will this be like playing with fire ? i need a reliable mailbox and cannot afford to loose customers. is vpopmail 5.0 reliable ? -- gruss,jens --- instant networks - netzwerkmanagment & internetfullservices

hi, i set up vpopmail with roaming users enabled. tcp.smtp is stored in the default location /home/vpopmail/etc/tcp.smtp. i add "-x /home/vpopmail/etc/tcp.smtp" to tcpserver starting qmail-smtpd. unfortunately it reports an error telling me that /home/vpopmail/etc/ tcp.smtp does not exists. i read thru the qmail documentation and read, that qmail-smtpd operates on tcp.smtp.cdb. by supplying tcp.smtp.cdb to qmail-smtpd it works. so, what's the correct configuration for both qmail & vpopmail to have supply for roaming users ? -- gruss,jens --- instant networks - netzwerkmanagment & internetfullservices
can't pop mails
