Cannot open disk

2010-04-28 Thread Mark Gardner
Making a bit of progress... Hit another snag. After the image is copied, it
tries to start it up but hits an error because the VM requires user input:

|32571|10:10|new| /usr/bin/ssh -i /etc/vcl/vcl.key -l root -p 22 -x
localvmhost 'vmware-cmd
/home/vm/vmware/vmwarelinux-xubuntu904-v0vmguest-1/vmwarelinux-xubuntu904-v0vmguest-1.vmx
start' 21
...
|32571|10:10|new| VMControl error -16: Virtual machine requires user input
to continue

Starting the VM up in the vmware GUI client gives the error Cannot open the
disk
'/images/vmware/vmwarelinux-xubuntu904-v0/vmwarelinux-xubuntu904-v0.vmdk' or
one of the snapshot disks it depends on. Reason: Failed to lock the file..

The disk image exists:
$ ls -l
/images/vmware/vmwarelinux-xubuntu904-v0/vmwarelinux-xubuntu904-v0.vmdk
2524548 -rw--- 1 root root 2524544 Apr 28 09:53
/images/vmware/vmwarelinux-xubuntu904-v0/vmwarelinux-xubuntu904-v0.vmdk

As far as I can tell, there are no locks on the disk anyware.

I am enclosing the vcld.log.

Thanks in advance,
Mark

Multiple reservation error

2010-04-28 Thread Kiran N
Hello All,

I have an existing Windows 2003 image which I have configured with VCL.I am
able to make 1 reservation successfully on the image on my vmguest vcl01.
But when I try to make more than one reservation, the second machine
(vcl02)boots up but I see an IP address conflict (in VI client).Hence this
machine is unable to be assigned an IP.
When seen in vcld.log I can see that sshd is not active on vcl02.

Also, I cannot see the VCL folder in the path C:\cygwin\home\root on the
vmguest machines.
Does it indicate that the files are not copied over to that machine during
image capture? Is this the problem for the issue above.

Please suggest!

Re: Multiple reservation error

2010-04-28 Thread Ryan Johnson
It sounds like you have your base image set up to use a static IP address.
This setting will be passed to any images you try to spin up. I'm not sure
exactly how Windows 2003 works but you should be able to configure the NIC
on your base to request an IP from a DHCP server.

VCL 2.2 with VMware Server 2.x or ESXi 4.x

2010-04-28 Thread Jose Higino
Hi,

I was wondering if VCL 2.2 ca be used now, because I would like to try out
VMware Server 2.x or ESXi 4.x with it.

Where can I get the code, the SVN repository only has 2.1?

I would hold off for now. I'm working on revamping the vmware.pm module to work
with VMware Server 2.x and ESXi. The code has not been committed to the
repository yet. I will probably commit some changes next week.

Andy
