[vdr] vdr & HD MPEG-4 DVB-C

2008-04-28 Thread Simon Baxter
Has anyone tried one of these new cards with VDR?

http://www.dvbshop.net/product_info.php/info/p149_SATELCO-EasyWatch-PCI-DVB-C-HDTV--Basic-Edition-.html

Or any other DVB-C card supporting CI/CAM and MPEG-4 ?___

The support for MPEG-4 comes in the form of codecs included on a CD that
is shipped with the card. The card itself supports MPEG-4 just like any
other: regardless of the encoding used the card passes the broadcasted
material to a piece of software, which in turn tries to decode it. VDR
can also do that when patched with Reinhard Nissl's h.264 patch and used
together with a software output plugin.

So to put it simply: Just buy the normal version - the cards are the same.

mpeg4 is only a software thing, there is no h264 ff-card

i dont have one so this will only be a good guess:
cam-support -> the ci extension for all satelco cards (hdtv dvb-c,
dvb-s2, dvb-s, dvb-c) is the same
(http://www.satelco.de/htm/shop/easywatch_pci/index.htm) and the
linuxtv.org wiki lists the dvb-s satelco card as clone of knc1, because
they using the same ci extension the dvb-c version will also be a knc1
clone (Satelco EasyWatch HDTV PCI (DVB-C) will be the same as the KNC
ONE TV-Station DVB-C Plus)
the knc1 dvb-s card does have linux ci support
http://www.linuxtv.org/wiki/index.php/KNC1_TV-Station_DVB-S
so the dvb-c (hdtv) will also support it

beside this they look similar

Which is alsmost the same, but not, and which works ;-)

[vdr] transponder moving

2008-04-28 Thread Rainer Zocholl

ARD swaps transponder 2nd June.

With VDR that seems to be difficult?

Exsample:
ARD is now at say "Channel 5"
the new ARD Channels are detected at "Channel 1200" ff...

VDR allows to mark "Channel 1200" and move it 1204 lines back wards
via cursor.
(Channel table does no "wrapp", there are 1700 channel entries totally
so the other way arround would be "only" 500 lines...))

OK, Channel lists can be sorted by transponder owners.
That way old and new ARD channels are side-byside,
but in that mode "move" does not work anymore...

OK, so let's move the 1204 lines so the new channel will become
"Channel 6"
Now simply "delete channel 5"...
Oops, does not work as there are "active timers".

OK, lets go the timers, and move them first.
No way to sort them by Channels, and not really "attractive" to
change every timer manually.

I can't imagine that this is really the "intended" way
if a buque swaps transponders

Please tell me what i made wrong?
Why is there no "exchange" or "direct renumber"?

BTW:
The new ARD channels will be on "lo"-Band.
A further reason to make the "single LNB patch"
part of VDR...

[vdr] [ANNOUNCE]: osdpip-0.0.9

2008-04-28 Thread Andreas Regel
Hi,

there is a new version of the osdpip plugin available:
http://home.arcor.de/andreas.regel/files/vdr-osdpip-0.0.9.tgz

Changes since 0.0.8:
- dropped support for VDR version older than 1.3.47.
- Now using palette replacemen introduced in VDR 1.3.27, so palette
setting workaround is not needed any longer. This simplifies code a
   bit.
- added support for VDR 1.6. Now 1.4 and 1.6 are supported (tested with
   1.4.7 and 1.6.0)
- added gettext localization support introduced with VDR 1.5.7.
- Do not decode B frames when dropping them.
- Use cCondWait::SleepMs instead of usleep.
- Fixed automatic closing of OSD after some minutes.
- Fixed showing wrong channel information.
- Added missing inclusion of .
- Added new colour reduction mode using 256 dithered colours (thanks to
   Martin Wache).
- Added french translations (thanks to micky979)

Andreas

BTW, the "Latest version available at" in README has not been changed
and points to the original site, that still has 0.0.8.

Are you certain you compil vdr against multiproto ?

Otherwise I don't have any idea what's going wrong at your place, sorry.
