Re: [vdr] Blocking svdrp with epgsearch-1.0.0

2011-10-18 Thread Christian Wieninger
The logfile only contains the output of one conflict check, where no
SVDRP communication occurs. Please add any search timer and trigger an
update to see if the timers can be created. What happens when you call
'svdrpsend help'? Is it really only the pute command the causes the
problem? Does it work when you disable epgsearch?

Re: [vdr] Wanted VDR xineliboutput client

2011-10-18 Thread Mika Laitio
I bought 2 years ago Zotac IONITX-A-E motherboard which came with atom
CPU and nvidia gpu, at that time it cost about 200 euro.

I use it only for web browsing, vdr-client (with vdr-xineliboutput)
and music listening purposes and for that kind of things the device
works like a charm. With SD material the cpu load is about 10-20 %, when
I have VDPAU support enabled. (I think it was about 60-80% without VDPAU.)

I made the small case myself and have I have 12" fan running in it in
the slowest speed and the case/cpu/gpu temperatures remains under 50 c.

Suspend/resume works ok at least with Mandriva 2010.2. (I have
configured from the gnome control center the device to suspend if nobody
is using it for 3 hours)

The only problem I have at the moment is a good infrared or bt remote
controller for the device. I currently have Ione Scorpius P20 keyboard
with internal mouse, but it's quality is not very good. I have
considered of switching it to prodige NanoX or some USB/infrared remote
if somebody could suggest a good one...

So, I search machine what would act as VDR-client, using xineliboutput

Of course remote control is needed too! ;-)

I compile xine-lib-1.2 myself. I use mplayer-nogui (and have used
mplayer2), but I don't use gstreamer, and don't bother installing
ffmpeg since everything works fine without an external copy.

Sorry, I missed the low profile card requirement.

I used 8400's before upgrading to GT220 & GT240. They worked ok but
the best deinterlacer I could use on HD content was bob. I haven't
used an 8200igp as you are but based on my experience with 8400, I
would guess 8400 is the minimum requirement.

Did you compile the xine stack yourself? I find it's very picky, eg if I

Wouldn't fit. The Microserver only takes low profile cards and the x16
slot is also the one nearest the side of the case so there's no room for
a double height backplane or thick heatsink like this:

An 8400GS might fit, but I wouldn't expect its VDPAU capabilities to be
up to much. I currently use 8200 onboard graphics with mplayer VDPAU and
it's rather jerky as if it's dropping frames just on 720p (with the TV
at 1280x720 so no scaling is required). But that could be mplayer
struggling to sync 24fps to 60Hz.

Hi
I have just installed vdrnfofs 0.8 and it works well.
The vdrnfofs mount is served by miniDLNA and I have played back .ts recordings
using WMP as a DLNA client.
I could not play back .vdr files but I dont think this is a problem with
vdrnfofs.
Thanks

I use a hand-crafted soltution for this purpose. My system does not use a
display manager. Instead, I use "mingetty --autologin tv" to automatically log
into a text console with a user named "tv".
tv's .bashrc then fires up irexec which comes with lirc. irexec is configured
in a way that it waits for a particular button on the remote control (one that
does not conflict with VDR) to be pressed, then runs startx.
startx uses the .xinitrc config file. There I start up a compositing window
manager like compiz, followed by vdr-sxfe.

Now you can watch TV.

To finally suspend the output, I *somehow* configured vdr-sxfe to quit when a
remote control button is pressed (a different one than the one that starts X).
I guess it was similar to this solution:
http://mms.mymediasystem.net/index-7.html I can look this up when I have
physical access to my VDR next time (by the end of the week).

Long story short, what you get is the following: Your system boots into a slick
text console, waits for button A to be pressed. This fires up X and vdr-sxfe.
When you press button B, vdr-sxfe quits, so does X. You get back to your text
console, waiting for button A to be pressed.

You can easily modify this solution in a way that X is started automatically on
boot (i.e. with nodm) and keeps running all the time.

HTH, Stefan
