Re: [vdr] iptv EXT channels.conf format

2008-03-26 Thread Simon Baxter
Thanks - sound is working since I changed the audio bitrate from 320 to 190.

Thanks too for the mms stream - works, kind of. I think the bandwidth to NZ
is affecting it though  :)

Looks like the streams I'm connecting to are the problem - various errors
connecting.
try playing the streams with vlc on your favorite desktop - if it works
there, it should also work with iptv plugin.

RE: the no sound problem, I'm struggling to troubleshoot this as the Nasa
Public channel is the only one I have - and there's often no sound anyway!
you can try this one:
mms://livemedia.omroep.nl/vprohollanddoc-bb

and also have a look here:

Thanks Simon for that tip :-) Now I managed to get some sound too, but i
had to reduce it to 96 for getting a reasonablesound @ nasatv (i just
got clipping and crap sound).

Are you using the iptvstream.sh script, or are you using the debian-way
with the config-files for each channel in /etc/vdr/plugins/iptv/vlcinput/ ?

I don't know where the problem is, but jumping to an other channel
leaves the vlc-process running, and on each iptv-channel-swap I get two
new vlc-processes (pgrep vlc). So before changing to an other stream, i
have to do a killall vlc.

This fiddling with this plugin starts to drive me nuts ;-) It looks that
it's time for me to look for a wig

Are you using iptvstream.sh or some other way of controlling vlc?

Handling of vlc shutdown was changed in iptvstream.sh in plugin version
0.0.6. I wonder if your iptvstream.sh uses the new approach which was
supposed to be more reliable.

Heh. Sorry for all the premature hair loss. :)

The configuration of the plugin is indeed not as simple as I'd like.
However we are already pushing the capability boundaries of
channels.conf to the limit which means that channel configuration is not
straightforward. Also interaction with vlc brings its own level of
complexity to the process.

Yes, I'm using the iptvstream.sh script.

Have still not had much chance to test switching between multiple iptv
channels - as I can only get the NASA channel working properly. I need to
spend some more time googling for free streams...

[vdr] iptv EXT channels.conf format

2008-03-25 Thread Simon Baxter
Hi
I can only get one EXT source working. This is what my channels.conf looks
like:

NasaTV Public;IPTV:1:IPTV|S0P0|EXT|iptvstream.sh|1:P:0:2:3:0:0:1:0:0:0
NasaTV Media;IPTV:2:IPTV|S0P0|EXT|iptvstream.sh|1:P:0:2:3:0:0:1:0:0:0
NasaTV Education;IPTV:3:IPTV|S0P0|EXT|iptvstream.sh|1:P:0:2:3:0:0:1:0:0:0
Shine TV NZ;IPTV:4:IPTV|S0P0|EXT|iptvstream.sh|1:P:0:2:3:0:0:1:0:0:0
ROMA UNO;IPTV:5:IPTV|S0P0|EXT|iptvstream.sh|1:P:0:2:3:0:0:1:0:0:0

The corresponding unique numbers relate to the various URLs in the
iptvstream.sh :
case ${PARAMETER} in
1)
URL=http://www.nasa.gov/55644main_NASATV_Windows.asx;
;;
2)
URL=http://www.nasa.gov/145590main_Digital_Media.asx;
;;

etc

I gather I've got this channels.conf wrong?

Each time I change to one of these channels, I get the first one only. ps -ef
| grep iptv gives me:

vdruser  24107 17778  0 06:53 pts/100:00:00 /bin/sh
/media/video/vdr-1.5.15/plugins/iptv/iptvstream.sh 1 4321

Also, I get no sound - but I'll look at this once I can change channels!

Thanks

have a look here:
http://www.saunalahti.fi/~rahrenbe/vdr/iptv/

as far as i know, you have to change your channels.conf like this:

NasaTV Public;IPTV:1:IPTV|S0P0|EXT|iptvstream.sh|1:P:0:2:3:0:0:1:0:0:0
NasaTV Media;IPTV:2:IPTV|S0P0|EXT|iptvstream.sh|2:P:0:2:3:0:0:1:0:0:0

Shine TV NZ;IPTV:4:IPTV|S0P0|EXT|iptvstream.sh|4:P:0:2:3:0:0:1:0:0:0
ROMA UNO;IPTV:5:IPTV|S0P0|EXT|iptvstream.sh|5:P:0:2:3:0:0:1:0:0:0

have a look at the number after |iptvstream.sh|X
