Wildcards work in both Unix and Windows classes. Which characters are valid wilcards varies with the client OS, since that OS is what defines what characters are valid in filenames as well as what chars are wildcards. Regardless of platform, the universe of what you want to back up on a class of servers goes into the class's selection list: c:\mydir Regardless of platform, any parts of the universe defined by the selection list, which you don't want to back up, go in the exclude list: c:\mydir\tmp Regardless of platform, any parts of the exclude list which you want to re-include ("Exceptions to exclude list" in 6.0) go in the include list: c:\mydir\tmp\audit* > Anyone have any better ideas / has this been resolved in NBU 6.0 ? RE: [Veritas-bu] upgrade to nbu 6.0
I think you have to do the following (without going into detail) Upgrade from 3.4 to 4.5 (latest MP) Upgrade from 4.5 to 5.1 (latest MP) Upgrade from 5.1 to 6.0 MP2 I don't think you can upgrade to 6.0 from anything else then 5.0 and 5.1 directly. If I had the task you face I would hire a consultant to help me. It is a major project. And remember that Veritas only support clients 1 major release back (but 2 normally works) I have a few clients still running 4.5 with 6.0, but that is because the client operatingsystem is so old that there is no support in eg version 5.0 or newer. /johnny -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Greenberg, Katherine A Sent: 10. april 2006 18:11 To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]; veritas-bu Cc: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: RE: [Veritas-bu] upgrade to nbu 6.0 You need to be at AT LEAST NBU 5.0 MP4 before you can do anything. -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Monday, April 10, 2006 12:07 PM To: veritas-bu Cc: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: [Veritas-bu] upgrade to nbu 6.0 Hello, I am currently running NBU 3.4GB on solaris 8 and would like to upgrade to solaris 10 and NBU 6.0. We're using the NetBackup Software encryption. Management loves the concept. Two important things I learned: 1. It's slow, but managable. Switching from the AES-256 Cipher to the Blowfish Cipher sped things up about 25%. 2. Encrypted Data doesn't compress. You can compress the data before you encrypt, but that just doubles the hurt. [Veritas-bu] VxSS Woes
Hi All, Master Server : Veritas Netbackup Enterprise Version 5.1 on Windows 2003 SP1. With 5 Media Servers Veritas Netbackup Enterprise 5.1 on Windows 2000. HP San Tape library on SSO. VxSS version 4.1.2.5 Objective of installing VxSS : Opertors are given minumum rights and to administrate who does what as many operators works in different shifts. Veritas Administration console is either accessed directly from Master or through Remote administration console. We have Installed a Root Broker, Authentication Broker and Authorization broker on a Windows Master Server and installed Authentication broker and the authorization client services on a netbackup remote administration client. From Master server to access administration console we login using adminveritas (Administrator) account. From Remote Administration console respective users and it was working fine for some time. When we added the next Remote administration console, every thing gone now nobody is able to access the Console except the adminveritas (Administrator) account directly from Master server. Other users from Remote admin console were not able to access the console. Please let me know if there is any patch or work around for this problem. Regards V.T.Naidu
