Thanks. I for one am not overly keen on compressing the catalog,
so hopefully I will not run into this problem

Compress Catalog BugAdmins, I've been having
problems with a particular clients db/images directory. It seemed that some
images were not being deleted. It
turns out that bpdb isn't able to delete compress catalogs that expire. It
essentially orphans them which leads to you're client images growing.
The bug ID is 897766. You should contact
veritas in order to get a work around. Apparently the fix is slated for
  MP3.

Hi
what I understand is, if you use have a Catalog Backup Tape, you
can use BPRECOVER onto the new Server, providing the Server name is
correct.

There is an unofficial method to recovering the data to a
different server, but not sure if you want to go down this route, and I do not
know if Symantec would like it!

but I hear it is possible from their
consultants

RE: [Veritas-bu] Command via bpcd

2006-05-08 Thread Ambrose, Monte
You could also use an oracle policy and create a script on the client
that runs through the policy. You would add the script/command info to
the policy file list. Bpgp will just move files. I think bpinst may
do this as someone else mentioned.

Does anyone know if it is possible to remotely run a command through
BPCD ?

I am interested in running "tpclean -L" on a SAN Media Server's SSO
tape drive from the master server in a script.

2006-05-08 Thread Mark.Donaldson
vmoprcmd has a lot of drive commands for remote servers.

Run "vmoprcmd -Q" for the list.

The "clean" commands are:

  -cleanlist
  Display drive cleaning information.
  -clean
Send media configuration commands to tpclean. This option is used
  by java.

Use "-h" to specify the media server and follow "-clean" by the same
command-line things you'd feed to tpclean.
