Re: [Veritas-bu] Win2k3 64 bit clients - NBU 6.0 MP4
Yes it works, First install 6.0 MP2 for x64 bits clients , then install patch 6.0 MP4 for x64 bits clients If you want to use the x64 machine as a media server and if you are in a ACSLS library control environment, you need ACSLS libattach 1.4.2 which is available since July and for libattach 1.4.2 to be supported, you need 6.0 MP5 which will be available very soon. I didn't still tested, but that is Symantec told me. Re: [Veritas-bu] L1400 anf lto drives zoning question
Missed this the first time. you do not want to have more than one server in any given zone. you should have, at a very minimum, something like this: Zone #1: Master Server (Server 1) Robot Drives 1-8 Zone #2 Media Server (Server 2) Drives 1-8 Zone #3 Media Server (Server 3) Drives 1-8 Zone #4 Media Server (Server 4) Drives 1-8 I've never heard anything like STK suggested to you, to have the robot and drives in separate zones, but if you want to do that, then, remove the robot from Zone #1, and create 1 more zone with just the master and robot. in my env, I actually create separate zones for every individual initiator/target pair, but it's not really neccessary. Re: [Veritas-bu] L1400 anf lto drives zoning question
Only the robot control host needs to see the robot. That's usually the master or first media server. If I'm not mistaken my config here is as follows: Zone 1 Master -- Robot Control Zone 2 Master -- Drives Zone 3 Media 1 -- Drives Etc... This assumes you are using all drives on all hosts and using SSO or similar. If not then you'd divide the drives up by media server (2 per or what have you.) -Jonathan From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Patricia Harmon Sent: Wednesday, August 01, 2007 12:33 PM To: veritas-bu@mailman.eng.auburn.edu Subject: [Veritas-bu] L1400 anf lto drives zoning question The vendor Sun/Storagtek is saying now that the library mut be in one zone and the 8 drives should be in a separate zone. [Veritas-bu] TS1120 drives with encryption using the Volume Pool ID
I have a request to use the NetBackup Volume Pool ID to trigger a policy within the IBM key manager. For example; If I have a NBU Volume Pool named Bank Data I would like any jobs that kick off that are in that volume pool to trigger the TS1120 drive to fetch a certain key from the IBM key manager. If I have another Volume Pool that is named Client Data I would like that to trigger the IBM key manager to use another key. This way I would not have to worry about barcodes and I could automatically trigger the right key for the right information.. My Question is whether the Volume Pool ID is written to the header of the tape? If not what data is written to the tape that can identify pools or other NetBackup info? Re: [Veritas-bu] L1400 anf lto drives zoning question
My approach for NetBackup is to zone as follows: Zone #1: Master server disk HBA, master server disk frame Zone #2: Media server 1 HBA, media server 1 disk frame Zone #3: Master server tape HBA, media server 1 tape HBA, media server 2 HBA, robot, tape drive 1, tape drive 2, etc. This zoning scheme has been rock solid for us. When I zone a frame, I put all of the ports of the frame on that fabric in the same zone. This could be 4 ports so zone 1 could have 5 wwns in it. All of the tape stuff is in the same zone - in our case, it's not really the physical tape drives but the drives as they're presented by the encryption appliances. …/Ed -- Ed Wilts, Mounds View, MN, USA mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] I GoodSearch for Bundles Of Love: http://www.goodsearch.com/?charityid=821118 ___ Veritas-bu maillist - Veritas-bu@mailman.eng.auburn.edu http://mailman.eng.auburn.edu/mailman/listinfo/veritas-bu
