[Veritas-bu] .free shrunk by 1024 bytes, padding with zeros

2008-05-08 Thread dy018

Hi there,

Anyone understand during status 1, we get this error message .free shrunk by
1024 bytes, padding with zeros. What exactly cause this error? Does that file
size changes before and after the backup? hence flagging out tis error? Thanks

This works but there can be problems doing this, be careful and only do it

It's all in the bpduplicate command. Be sure to use the "-cn" option to
specify you want to duplicate your second copy.

We have two Virtual Tape Libraries on different locations. Data is
backupped to the VTL in Site A and duplicated to as a secondary image to
the VTL on Site B. As a Life Cycle Policy we want to duplicate the the
secondary images on the VTL in site B to tape. This is not possible
without scripting because standard you only can duplicate Primary
images.

Does anyone have a script or the commands to find the secondary images
created f.e. the past 24 hours and duplicate them to tape?

We are using NB6.5 on Windows.

Thanks!

[Veritas-bu] Multi-stage backups - Requesting Information

2008-05-08 Thread Kevin Miele
Hello All,
I work for Tek-Tools Software, we make a backup reporting product call
"Profiler", and would like to know if any of you are performing Disk to Disk
to Tape backups using NetBackup.
If so, how are you using this feature, meaning natively through NBU or via a
VTL of some kind. Also, what kind of reporting would benefit you with
respect to this functionality?
I am collecting information from various sources on this subject to see what
reporting would benefit users.
I'd appreciate any feedback you could provide.
Regards,
Kevin

We've still got a few stragglers on NT 4.0 and we're backing them up
successfully with 6.5.1. We've just finished a restore of the files
from one that died so we know the backups are good.

[Veritas-bu] Exchange 2007 and Netbackup 6.5.1

2008-05-08 Thread Leidy, Jason D
Does anyone have experience backing up Exchange 2007 with Netbackup
6.5.1? We are migrating our Solaris Master and Media servers from 5.1
MP6 to 6.5.1, the clients will stay at 5.1 MP6 short term. Anyway, once
we implement Exchange 2007 on x64 servers we want to back up the LCR
copy of the Exchange databases.

In short, does 6.5.1 support backing up Exchange 2007 LCR?

Re: [Veritas-bu] Domain Controller Backup

2008-05-08 Thread WEAVER, Simon (external)

Hi Matt
there is nothing wrong with your answer at all :-) and please, do
contribute because I dont know that much about NBU compared to the
guru's on this list.

The link was just an option. And yes, capturing the System State (Win2k)
or Shadow Copy Comp. (Win2k3) will GET the Active Directory, System
Files, Registry, ect

In fact, there are cases where you may not want the "ALD" Directive -
You may want just the C: Drive and then the Shadow Copy or System State
Component

You are correct, I didn't see your first answer until after I replied.
I got excited because I could answer a question :)

And I agree ALL_LOCAL_DRIVES is better to do than just a system state
backup.

When you say backup your Domain Controller, one would assume Matthew
that they do not just want the System State (Win2k) or Shadow Copy
Components (win2k3) or the C: Drive (NT4).

If you do the ALL LOCAL DRIVES, you can capture everything for the
Domain Controller including the SS/SCC parts that are essential for the
running of a Domain Controller.

Alot of the info is covered in the Sys Admin guide I believe too.
