[Veritas-bu] PureDisk vs. DataDomain
PureDisk is def cheaper up front. However, dedupe rates and ingest performance are no where near what a DD box can do. Factor in also, if you did you "Older," servers, what is the 3,4, and 5 yr maintenance costs on that, for those servers? Not to mention the storage. IMO, while a higher up front cost with DD, the long term TCO would be lower. Sometimes cheaper and "good enough," are not enough. +-- |This was sent by mnab...@gmail.com via Backup Central. |Forward SPAM to ab...@backupcentral.com. +-- ___ Veritas-bu maillist - Veritas-bu@mailman.eng.auburn.edu http://mailman.eng.auburn.edu/mailman/listinfo/veritas-bu
Re: [Veritas-bu] PureDisk vs. DataDomain
And some just go to third party support companies and don't spend capital on backup solutions until they absolutely have to do so. For many organizations backups are deemed "unimportant" by the powers that be until the day they need to restore something. Having worked for various organizations I can say that some are very proactive in this area and others won't contemplate buying new backup technology until the old stuff dies completely or at least appears ready for imminent collapse. I doubt you know who "most" firms do it personally. From: veritas-bu-boun...@mailman.eng.auburn.edu [mailto:veritas-bu-boun...@mailman.eng.auburn.edu] On Behalf Of Sesar, Steven L. Re: [Veritas-bu] Client install download of 5.1 MP6 or 7
MP6 patch can be downloaded here: http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH49986 Base NBU Client software must be downloaded from FileConnect: https://fileconnect.symantec.com/ If you have a Unix master, you should be able to install the patch on the master (provided you have loaded the Linux client software) and then push to the client.
