Re: [Veritas-bu] Drive not backing up

2011-07-07 Thread nbuser
You can try backing it only that drive in multiple streams. May be it is
just a folder, file which is creating problem.

Re: [Veritas-bu] Unix Exclude_list

2011-07-07 Thread Lightner, Jeff
Yes but if you're doing multiple policies on the same host chances are
the exclusion lists are more relevant to each policy than global. For
example here we typically have policies such as:

SERVERNAME-OS = Operating System files (e.g. root, /etc, /var, /usr ...)

SERVERNAME-INST-DB = Oracle Database Instance name backup (e.g.
/database/instdata01, /database/instdata02, /database/instidx01 etc...)

If I wanted to exclude /database from SERVERNAME-OS and put in
exclude_list rather than exclude_list.SERVERNAME-OS it means my
SERVERNAME-INST-DB would not backup the files I'd specified since they
are in the global exclude list. To me it seems much cleaner to make
exclude lists for specific policies.

To erase the question mark below: The exclude file MUST be on the
client the policy is backing up. As also noted below it must match the
name of the policy exactly including case.

exclude_list.MYBACKUP would not be used by a the policy mybackup or
mYbackup or MYBACKuP.

Not much to go on.

Where is the file? What machine do you have it on (needs to be on the
client)?

File name is case sensitive and has to exactly match the policy name.
Compare the output of 'ls /usr/openv/netbackup' (on the client) to
bppllist (on the master, gives the list of policies).

You’re just looking in the policy name for ndmp, right? (bpdbjobs without
modifiers doesn’t include policy type).

Why not just use:

“bperror –backstat –hoursago 24 | grep –i ndmp | grep –i “EXIT STATUS 1”

Cheers,
Nic

Hello folks,

I have a requirement where we need to check NDMP backups which completed with
status code 1 (Partial backups) in last 24 hours.

I usually run below command to check the output

bpdbjobs | grep -i ndmp | grep -i "Done 1"

I am not good in scripting, so can someone help me make a script which should
check the current date and get the output just 24 hours ago.

Thanks in advance,

[Veritas-bu] Drive not backing up

2011-07-07 Thread BlueChris69
Hi,

I have a client which has 7 local drives all of which backup except 1. It gets
to a point where it allocates a tape drive, estimates how much is required to
be backed up and then sits on a status of writing with 0 written. It will sit
there for hours and never actually back anything up. Has anyone seen this
before.

This is on NBU 7.0.1 Windows and the client is an Ent Vault server. There is
nothing different about any of the drives other than this particular one is
larger than the others and has 390gb of free space.

I would very much like to know what to do next as this one has me
stumpedyeah i know, don't take much! :D

Thanks,
Chris

Re: [Veritas-bu] C:\WINDOWS\system32\dns not backed-up

2011-07-07 Thread Nic Solomons
On the host you are backing up, have a look in this registry key:

HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\BackupRestore\FilesNotToBackup

See if your dns file/folder is in there... Netbackup will obey the listed
exclusions in that registry key as well as its own exclusion list...

Cheers,
Nic
