Re: [Veritas-bu] Server W2k3 not writing to tape
Have you enabled windows open file backups option in netbackup for this client. If yes try disabling. Sent from my TAB. Please excuse spelling errors. Re: [Veritas-bu] NDMP Tape drives
Donald, Do you have the latest tape configuration files on your NetApp? Run a "storage show tape supported" on the filer and check. I ran a quick check on mine and don't see any LTO5 drives listed as supported (OnTap 7.3.1.1). Check NOW for updated "tape_config" files. (NOW seems to be broken for me right now.) You can copy the new tape_config files onto the filer and it should pick them up. You may have to rescan your tape buses to recognize them. Bryan I have some new LTO5 drives and 2 of 4 of my netapps won't show the drive serial numbers. I have checked switch ports, os levels, hba model and firmware. They are all exactly the same. I am connected to a brocade switch and have the drives zoned properly. The netapps see the drives but if I run storage show tape on the nas it has a generic serial number instead of the serial number of the drive. This is preventing me adding these new drives. Re: [Veritas-bu] NDMP Tape drives
In which library are the drives installed? If these are fibre drives then you must also map them to the server from the tape library as well as zoning them in via the switch. That is to say libraries (as do fibre disk arrays) have ways to set permission to specific drives to specific hosts. (For example in the Quantum i6000 I have to go to something like Setup-->Connectivity-->FC Hosts to map the drives.) Minor rant: It would really help if Qlogic adapters did NOT report every initiator on the SAN but only those things specifically zoned to the hosts to which they are attached. Trying to figure out what Qlogic really has access to is a PITA. [Veritas-bu] Server W2k3 not writing to tape
Hi, I have an issue where we have a W2k8 master server on 7.0.1. I am trying to backup a W2k3 client. It has the client software, patched and the VSS hotfix installed. When a backup starts it does the usual and then when it gets to writing to tape it just sots there forever until cancelled without writing anything. Has anyone had this? Please note the Hotfix has been applied... :D Cheers, Chris +-- |This was sent by chris.fa...@uk.fid-intl.com via Backup Central. |Forward SPAM to ab...@backupcentral.com. +-- ___ Veritas-bu maillist - Veritas-bu@mailman.eng.auburn.edu http://mailman.eng.auburn.edu/mailman/listinfo/veritas-bu
