[Veritas-bu] client reinstalation problem

2007-07-24 Thread Daniel Sigrist
Hello all,

I’m trying to reinstall an unix client on a solaris 9 box and netbackup
4.5_FP6. I followed the procedure described on VERITAS NetBackup™ 5.1
Installation Guide for UNIX (Uninstalling UNIX NetBackup Client Software).
When I tried to reinstall the client, I received:

/usr/openv/netbackup/bin/install_client_files ftp sg-infra-01 infra

   sg-infra-01 ...

Client sg-infra-01 -- Solaris hardware running Solaris9

Installing NetBackup software on sg-infra-01 as user infra

Missing directories on sg-infra-01.

   sg-infra-01 install failed

Can you help me?

Best regards,

[Veritas-bu] Help please

2007-07-23 Thread Daniel Sigrist
Hello my dear gurus.

I tried REQUIRED_INTERFACE, as someone suggested, but didn’t work because,
when my first interface fail (the required one) and the second one
(192.168.2.153) comes up, I’m still unable to do backup.

The workaround is to manually edit /etc/hosts of the server, change the ip
address of the desired machine to 192.168.2.153 and run the manual backup.

Any other thoughts ?

Thank you again.

Solaris 10

Netbackup 4.5_FP6

Today I was looking at the “Activity Monitor” and saw that one of my
scheduled backups didn’t run. I tried to run manually and received the same
error:

RMAN-00571: ===

RMAN-00569: === ERROR MESSAGE STACK FOLLOWS ===

RMAN-00571: ===

RMAN-03009: failure of backup command on ORA_SBT_TAPE_1 channel at
07/20/2007 09:27:48

ORA-19506: failed to create sequential file, name=crin9ski_1_1, parms=

ORA-27028: skgfqcre: sbtbackup returned error

ORA-19511: Error received from media manager layer, error text:

   Failed to open for backup.

So I searched for some light in the bprd logs and found:

09:35:13.368 [1326] 2 logconnections: BPRD ACCEPT FROM
192.168.200.153.47732 TO 192.168.2.86.13720

09:35:13.386 [1326] 16 connected_peer: gethostbyaddr() for 192.168.200.153
failed, HOST_NOT_FOUND (1)

09:35:13.404 [1326] 32 bprd: cannot determine connection host name

09:35:13.409 [10131] 2 listen_loop: select() interrupted

09:37:51.725 [10131] 2 bprd: socket fd from accept() is 7

That’s why the backup failed, the master server don’t know this ip, because
the /etc/hosts show that the machine I’m backing up has the IP address
192.168.200.150.

My problem is that I have 2 NIC’s on this machine for redundancy. One has
the IP 150 and the other has the ip 153. When the first one fail, the second
one answer for the machine.

What can I do to netbackup recognize both IP as the same machine?

Thank you so much.

[Veritas-bu] RES: BACKUP EXIT STATUS = 59

2007-07-16 Thread Daniel Sigrist
I finally found what is my problem:

netstat -a |grep bpcd

netstat -a |grep vnetd

  *.vnetd *.*0 0 49152 0 LISTEN

So bpcd is not listening.

I checked the inetd.conf and found:

bpcdstream tcp nowait root/usr/openv/netbackup/bin/bpcd bpcd

vnetd stream tcp nowait root/usr/openv/bin/vnetd vnetd

vopied stream tcp nowait root/usr/openv/bin/vopied vopied

bpjava-msvc stream tcp nowait root
/usr/openv/netbackup/bin/bpjava-msvc bpjava-msvc –transient

then restarted inetd:

svcadm restart network/inetd

and

netstat -a |grep bpcd

???

Nothing happened.

Any thoughts ?

[Veritas-bu] RES: RES: BACKUP EXIT STATUS = 59

2007-07-16 Thread Daniel Sigrist

Thank you Caleb, you gave me the solution. I did:

svcs -a |grep -i bpcd

maintenance14:43:46 svc:/network/bpcd/tcp:default

then

svcadm restart svc:/network/bpcd/tcp:default

svcs -a |grep -i bpcd

maintenance14:43:46 svc:/network/bpcd/tcp:default

so I tried:

svcadm clear svc:/network/bpcd/tcp:default

and then

svcs -a |grep -i bpcd

online 15:56:54 svc:/network/bpcd/tcp:default

netstat -a |grep bpcd

  *.bpcd *.*0 0 49152 0 LISTEN

Now I’m able to backup my machine again.

Thank you all guys for your imputs.

Bpcd should be a service on its own. Try svcs –a |grep –i bpcd and see if
you get any output. If so then just run svcadm restart
svc:/network/bpcd/tcp:default

[Veritas-bu] Doubt about scheduled backups

2007-07-10 Thread Daniel Sigrist
Hi all,

I have a doubt about scheduled backups. I’m doing oracle backups (10g and
9i) using rman and netbackup 4.5_SP6. I create a policy that do a full
database backup once a week (on Saturday). I set the frequency of the
policy to 1 week, and my start windows is from Saturday 06:00 am to Monday
06:00 am. So I tested my policy doing a manual backup on Wednesday. On
Saturday the scheduled policy didn’t ran. Netbackup simply ignored my
policy. Is this a expected behavior? Because I set my policy to run once a
week and I ran manually on Wednesday, then netbackup only will run the
policy again after a week?

Thank you advance,
