Re-install the IBM tape drivers using install.exe -n for Non-Execlusive. Non-Execlusive = no SCSI reserves. Also, run the DisableDPF.reg file, in the reg folder, to set the registry. [Veritas-bu] Shared drive problem
We had the same problem with our environment. AIX Master, AIX Media server and Windows Media server. All running NBU 6.5.2A. We have installed about 5 binaries and this problem seems to have been resolved. I would contact Veritas support and get the latest binaries for 6.5.2A. As a work around when starting NetBackup, we would start the master server first and run vmdareq over and over until all of the tape drives show available and not showing a scanning status. Once vmdareq displayed all tape drive available consistantly, we would start the media servers. eebinstaller.1406132.1.rs6000 eebinstaller.1410910.2.rs6000 eebinstaller.1429781.1.rs6000 I believe these 3 are the last one we installed. What I want to know is why NetBackup starting using one tape for /usr/openv/db/staging/EMM_DATA.db and another tape for the rest of the catalog? Sometimes the Hot Catalog backup uses 2 tapes, sometimes puts both backups on the same tape. [Veritas-bu] Windows Incremental backups failing
Does anyone have information on tuning the timeouts for Windows Incremental backups? My environment has Windows 2003 clients, running NetBackup 6.0 MP5, sending data to a Windows 2003 64bit Media Server, running Netbackup 6.0 MP5. [Veritas-bu] Hot Catalog backups fails with error code 130
I working with an AIX 5.3 master server running NetBackup 6.0 MP 5. The Vault process starts at 06:00 AM each morning and the Hot Catalog backup starts within 10 minutes. The Hot Catalog backup runs for about 2 1/2 hours and fails about 08:30 AM ( Error Code 130) . The Vault process finishes and ejects tapes then goes into Waiting for Retry status (Error Code 294). After about 10 minutes the Vault process starts again and the Hot Catalog backup starts again. The second time the Hot Catalog backup completes successfully and the Vault process completes successfully. I have a Case open with Symantec but, I thought I would try to also. The only problem I have seen with NBU not starting with AIX was due to the C compiler runtime at an old version. It was recommended that xlC.rte is at 8.0.0.10. [Veritas-bu] NBNOS process taking 100% CPU utilization
I have a Master/Media server and a Media server each running AIX 5.3 TL 5 and Netbackup 6.0 MP5. Since upgrading from NBU 5.1 MP4 to NBU 6.0 MP5 we have had two outages where backups virtually stopped due to the NBNOS process using 100% of the CPU utilization on the Master/Media server. Also during heavy backup periods we get many core dumps of the bpstsinfo process. I have a ticket open with support but no luck with a response. Hi All, Concerning SQL restores, does the database have to be down to restore a database from a backup and redirecting the files to a different directory?
