[Veritas-bu] Would like to BMR Linux Redhat 5.0 Servers

2009-05-07 Thread Reg . Giacomini

We have several physical Redhat 5.0 servers that we would like to use BMR on.
My current NBU level is 6.5.3.1 for Windows. Symantec's latest
compatibility list shows that BMR is not supported with Redhat 5.0 as a BMR
server or client. Has anyone tried to setup BMR on Redhat 5.0? If so,
please let me know how it worked.

Re: [Veritas-bu] Linux Client Install

2009-03-27 Thread Reg . Giacomini

Here is what I used to install a Redhat client.
NB_65_CLIENTS2_20070723.tar

If you are going to 6.5.3.1, here are the other files I used.
NB_CLT_6.5.3_314595.tar
NB_CLT_6.5.3.1_319529.tar
NB_JAV_6.5.3.1_319530

Good luck.

I am having a heck of a time getting the Linux Client to install. I downloaded
NetBackup_6.5_LinuxRedhat2.6.tar.gz and ran the install script. It
was going along fine and then it stopped and said the VRTSpbx package was
missing and that it could be found in the ICS directory on CD2. It
requested that I put that disc in and provide the full address to the
installics location. We do not have physical CD’s, so I went and downloaded
NetBackup_6.5_ICS_LinuxX86.tar.gz. I uncompressed that directory and typed in
the full address to that file. I have two questions: 1) Why does it
say that I am installing NetBackup and Media Manager, when I run the install
script from NetBackup_6.5_LinuxRedhat2.6.tar? I only need the Client to
be installed, but everyone has told me that is the correct .tar file. 2) When I
type in the path to the installics file that it’s requesting, it does
not accept it. It just asks me for the path again or ‘q’ to quit and abort the
install. Did I download the correct ICS directory (
NetBackup_6.5_ICS_LinuxX86.tar.gz)?

I’ve been asking a ton of questions the last few days, so I appreciate the
information and patience from the people who have been offering help.

[Veritas-bu] Has Anyone Written a Script to Perform a Restore in Netbackup 6.5.1

2008-11-06 Thread Reg . Giacomini

Has anyone written a script to perform restores in Netbackup 6.5.1? Or is
there a way to install the Backup/Restore client on a customer workstation
and limit the view to selected backup policies? I do all of the restores now
and I would like to get this ability to my customers, but they do not
trust each other not to restore each others data. Each customer on the server
has their own backup policy, so it would be nice the limit their view
to just their policy or run a restore script to limit their view.

Thanks,
Reg

[Veritas-bu] Media Needed for Linux Client NBU 6.5.1 Boot Server

2008-09-26 Thread Reg . Giacomini

I am trying to setup a BMR boot server on a Linux Redhat client. We are
primarily a Windows shop, so I had to build the Redhat server from scratch.
I want to make this Redhat server a NBU 6.5.1 client, but I am having trouble
finding all of the NBU media that I need.
So far I have installed these NetBackup products:
NetBackup_6.5_Clients2.tar.gz( for the base NBU 6.5 client)
NetBackup_6.5_ICS_LinuxX86.tar.gz (for the Core product base)
  NetBackup_6.5_BMRunix.tar.gz (for BMR).
But I am having trouble finding the NetBackup_6.5.1 Linux client software. The
two that I have down loaded do not work
(1195676024jtun_nb_clt_6.5.1_linux.zip or NB_6.5.1.linuxR_x86_294650.tar)
Does anyone know what is the correct NBU 6.5.1 software for a Redhat 4.7
server? And do I need a special upgrade for the BMR on it or does the client
upgrade take care of it?

Thanks,
Reg Giacomini

[Veritas-bu] SUSE* and NetBackup 6.5.1

2008-08-21 Thread Reg . Giacomini

What is the NetBackup client process name that runs on the SUSE8 server. My
Linux guy is out of town and the servers stopped backing up yesterday
with a 58. I can ping and nslookup the server, but I can't access the server
through host properties using the NBU Admin Console. Is it possible
that the process is down?

Thanks,
Reg
