2008-12-04 Thread Stafford, Geoff
Just wondering if anyone has seen any issues with DSSU relocation
hanging? Seen it a few times this week where the relocation job will
hang for several hours after it finishes reading an image then never
starts the next. Once or twice it has woken up, other times I've left
it out there for 10-12 hours and nothing.

Too early to proclaim it's a bug, just wondering if anyone else is
seeing this?

Master is Solaris10, one media is also Solaris10 and another media I
have seen it on is RHEL4. TCP fusion is off on all the Solaris boxes.

Seems like a few others are experiencing this. If/when it happens again
I think I'm going to open a case.

We actually have another case opened for a NOM reporting issue. Bpdbm
is taking too long to respond, timing out nbsl and hosing the job
monitor in NOM. Could be environment specific as we have other 6.5.3
domains not experiencing this.

But did you apply the 6.5.3 Java patch, as appropriate for the OS, to the

You do also need to do that. (Failing to do so with, for example, 6.5.2 had the
headings wrong in the Activity monitor. Same genre of issue.)

6.5.3 GA has been pulled according to support @ Symantec, I called them
to find out where it was on file connect and they pulled it about an
hour or so after it was released. If you haven't upgraded yet I would
wait till we find out what is broke.

Doug,

Where are you trying to download the patch containers? If it's not
the Symantec FTP site, it probably wasn't ever there (i.e. the file
connect site where I am occasionally sent to obtain a licensed piece
of software).

Here's the 6.5.3 Downloads available:
http://seer.entsupport.symantec.com/docs/315028.htm

Release Announcement:
http://seer.entsupport.symantec.com/docs/315266.htm

If you need to make use of FTP, here's the site/directory:
ftp://ftp.entsupport.symantec.com/pub/support/products/NetBackup_Enterprise_Server

The files are definitely there and have NOT been pulled.

Ahh, now I see the confusion. You cannot get 6.5.3 as a base install.
You'll have to install 6.5GA, then apply the 6.5.3 release update.

Symantec rarely remasters the distro. If they're remastered 6.5.3, I
haven't heard about it (not that they'd phone me up and announce it either
:-)). For now, I think you'll have to install a base 6.5 and then apply the
6.5.3 update.

Re: [Veritas-bu] 6.5.3 on the FTP site

2008-12-02 Thread Bill Coleman
6.5.3 is now released! The patch containers are available now on the
support website referenced. You should only need a subset of the
containers posted and then push an update to all the clients. If you
are not running 6.5, you will need to push 6.5GA and then 6.5.3 to the
clients.

Only for new major releases are new images placed on FileConnect and a
new set of DVDs are generated. 6.5.3 is an update to 6.5GA and only
replaces the binaries that have changed since the major release.
