We tried this, and came to the conclusion that it won't work because of the way Exchange and the NetBackup extension for Exchange work together. You can use a backup network for exchange backups, however, you need add entries to your hosts file on the backup server. Use the name of the exchange server in the hosts file but use the ip of the exchange backup network interface. You will have to ensure that the backup server looks to the hosts file before going to DNS, but other than that it just works. Have you tried adding some static routes for the backup traffic to your media and master servers on the client? We're trying to force exchange 07 To use the backup network, but we're not having much luck. In our exchange 03 environment, we just added another IP to the exchange cluster resource and added a host File on the media servers. I'm being told by our exchange admin that this is not possible with exchange 07.
