We are a HUGE solaris shop with a sole HP UX box, or old master server
Sometimes it's easier to work with the demons you know well.

We upgraded from hpux to solaris 10 a few months ago and had issues
where the backups just wouldn't run and no errors were generated

There is a patch for this that fixed it in the end so you don't need to
worry about it. If you have patched to the latest rev of solaris you should
be OK, can't remember what the patch id is. Be careful to make sure you
don't get SUN to update netbackup as the patch bundle included them last
patch release we ran.

Hi Dave,

 

My experience is with 6.0MP4 but you may see the same performance increase.
I have a variety of servers which range from V240 - V890s to E25K domains
with 4-8 boards assigned.

I got about a 20% increase, sometimes a lot more and sometimes less. In the
end it depends on the DB, file sizes or whatever you are trying to backup.

 

Anyway, I recommend you do not put any entries into /etc/system as anything
I had in there seemed to be smaller than what Sol 10 booted up with.

 

I would be curious to hear your experiences so keep us up to date.

used it as a master+media server combo, it worked well.
