to finish this out. - i deleted both the library and the tape drive using the gui. - power cycled the library and server. - using tpconfig i was able to first added the robot and then the drive. only after using this sequence of steps was i successful in getting the robot online. thanks again for you help. dave.. Does the OS see the robot? Check that using sgscan -- if the OS doesn't see the changer then that's your problem.
