Re: [Veritas-bu] Problem installing 6.5.1 on REL 5.1

2008-03-19 Thread Jeff Lightner
FYI: You definitely need the compat-libstdc ++-296 (note 296 is part of
the package name not part of the version) for NBU 6.0 MP4 to install
correctly (see my recent thread about issue with logging message). This
is true despite the fact that the install itself doesn't complain. It
is also for backups to work which is the first time I did see it
complain. It would not surprising you'd also need it for licensing.

You might want to reinstall AFTER installing the compatibility library.
As noted in my thread last week the logging error didn't go away when it
was applied later although the backup error did.

Subject: Re: [Veritas-bu] Problem installing 6.5.1 on REL 5.1

Back on version 5.1, I had a similar problem installing NB 5.1 on CentOS
4.1
Adding this rpm fixed the problem.
compat-libstdc++-296-2.96-132.7.2.i386.rpm

I suspect the rpm for RH 5.1 may have the same name with different
version numbers.

I did get the same thing working on CentOS 5.0 but I don't have my
install notes any more.

run ldd on the executable and see what is missing.

ldd /usr/openv/netbackup/bin/admincmd/bpminlicense

I managed to get NBU 6.5 going on Slackware 12 and ran into the same
problem, and with considerable effort was able to satisfy all the
requirements to make it work.

Currently running 5.1 on Linux. Upgrading hardware so have decided to
do fresh install of 6.5.1. Install of first server (master) failing.

I get this when I try to enter the license key

 Enter license key: OEXC-R908-TQMD-3DPP-P3BP-I543-3PPP-PPP3-8OF3-0

 : /usr/openv/netbackup/bin/admincmd/bpminlicense: error while loading
shared libraries: /usr/openv/lib/libvxPBXCommonST.so: cannot restore
segment prot after reloc: Permission denied (127)

Advice is appreciated. Symantec second level support is trying to
duplicate the installation environment and thus the problem.

Re: [Veritas-bu] Problem installing 6.5.1 on REL 5.1

2008-03-19 Thread Johnson, Eric
Besides the missing libstdc++-compat libraries, also check to see if you
have SELinux set to Enforcing mode and if there's SELinux errors being
logged. If so, you might have to set it to Permissive mode.
