I'm glad to know that. I didn't know that , by default, on Unix/Linux systems
it will copy the whole directory structure ...so that goes nicely with what
you wanted.

Cheers!

Re: [Veritas-bu] exclude list question

2008-09-11 Thread POUSSARD, Gilles (APX SYNSTAR)
Hi,

I did the following test with success

I tested on a basic environment backing up the /var sleleton ans backing up
completely /var/log subfolder

bash-2.03# cat exclude_list.test-s240rbk1_2

/var/*/*

bash-2.03# cat include_list.test-s240rbk1_2

/var/log/*

The number of asterix is important.

Best regards,

Gilles.

Include lists override exclude lists. So your policy would have / in the
backup selection, select cross mount points, and then create an exclude_list
file on the client with / in it, and an include_list file with the specific
folders that you want backed up. This should be straightforward.

A I see. I admit that's an interesting goal :)

I really have no idea how you could do that unless you specify ALL available
directories while excluding their contents... and that will be a huge &
ridiculous task as everytime a new directory is created you'll have to update
the exclude_list.

Let's see if anyone else have an idea.

Hello Gilles,

Please be more specific: what's on your backup selection (on your Policy)? and
what are the directories you want to exclude? (and the exceptions to the
exclude_list..)
