Folks: I brought my wife home from the hospital late this afternoon. Surgery
went great. Imagine them being able to replace a knee in just 56 minutes.
Anyway, so far, so good. She is in a lot of pain, which is to be expected
with a 13 inch incision down the front of her left knee..But other than
that, she is walking with a walker, and is able to bear all the weight she
can handle on that leg already.. Thanks to all for the thoughts and prayers.
Please keep them coming because now begins the long and painful rehab she'll
have to go through.. Thanks again, Chuck

David, Don't say such things! For some that can be grounds for divorce
Anyway, Chuck, it sounds good. Several people in my family have had knee
replacements and surgeries, and yes it will take awhile before she's 100
percent OK. And she will be in pain, but hopefully she's on some good drugs. If
you need anything else, let us know.

[VFB] Carrot Sticks

2008-10-18 Thread Rene Zillmann

Hi gang,

I found in the Cabelas Catalog some fly rods, which use fibers from
carrots (yesss, from these vegetables) as replacement for the usual
carbon, glass, fibers.
Has anybody experience with these rods? Any idea where to get blanks of
carrots.

[VFB] Re: A legendary fly fishing day

2008-10-18 Thread jim phillips

Tom
My prayers have joined the rest. May any polyps found be clear of any further
problems,

Sometime soon I will have to undergo the knife for my left sholder as I have a
ligament tear in my left rotor cuff plus some bone floating around from getting
blown 10 feet by a RPG that detonated close by in 1970. God was with me that
day - no wounds just sore as all get out and unable to move left arm for a
week. Then two years ago, I slipped on some ice and fell on the same sholder.
Sore and stiff but gradually able to move it but the pain was still lingering,
Had an MRI Friday and they found the tear and the chips soo.

Peace be with all of you.May your GOD be your fishing partner.

[VFB] R.Cuff - was [VFB] Re: A legendary fly fishing day

2008-10-18 Thread Allan Fish
Jim,

Let me know when you get it done. Depending on what they have to do,
recuperation can be 2-6 months. I'm currently into 5 weeks of what
the surgeon said will be a a 6-monther. It's no fun, but honestly,
after about a week, the pain was not a whole lot worse than it was
before surgery. After 2 weeks, about the same. Major healing
occurred during weeks 3 - 5. I've not had a pain pill since sometime
in week 2.

Of course, my poor wife probably thinks I've been a major pain! She
thought she got over tying someone else's shoes when our kids grew up.

Wes I use the hump shanked hooks on cork and the styrofoam bodies. It gives
more gluing area and more stability to the body especially in the smaller
sizes.

[VFB] Thanks a million

2008-10-18 Thread boosbooksandbargains
I'd like to say "Thank's a million for all the well wishes, thoughts and
prayers for my wife, myself and my family during this trying time for us. She's
doing exceptionally well for only 4 days out of this major surgery. She's doing
all her exercises, letting me give her the two blood thinner shots per day, and
is getting around much better than I thought she would be at this point. Thanks
again. Chuck, Billie, and Family
