[VFB] QUOTE FOR THE DAY

2008-10-27 Thread Jimmy D. Moore
Few fly-fishing experiences are as thrilling as seeing, stalking, and
then hooking the quarry. It's undoubtedly the appeal of dry-fly fishing
in streams. In my opinion, some stillwaters offer opportunities for even
more visible, heart-pounding moments.

Morning Gang!

Just thinking it's time for me to host another Swap. Those of you who have
participated in one of my 15 previous ones seem to have enjoyed the fun and
frivolity of my Off the Wall swaps.

I've meistered March Madness I II, Colors I II, Retiree, Ham Radio, Chili
Pepper, Eagle Scout, Blues I II, Jody's Courage, Renegade, Steelhead,
Redneck, Murf Memorial.

To make this one really different, I'm thinking of an OLD FART SWAP! You'll
need to be at least 65 years old before the end of this year, ore thereabout.
The fly you'd tie would be one of your own design, preferably one of your
favorites, fly size up to you. At this point, I'm just testing the water. As
those of you who have participated in my seaps before already know, there'll be
around 25 participants. Could be more. Could be less, depending on the number
of OLD FARTS who can still do a whip finish. :-) ;-) :-P :-D

Time frame for flies to me would be around the first of February, with the
usual toe tags, return postage packaging or pre-stamped return package.

I look forward to hearing from you OF's who can still tie a fly.

Sounds like age discrimination to me. I suppose the only OTHER rule

Maybe you can be an old fart and be 60, 55 or even 50. Doesn't AARP count

Received a great set of streamers from Dave masson over the weekend. The
winter streamer fly swap is moving along nicely. I will be sending an update
sometime today.

Sorry I can’t type it is a winter swap not a sinter swap (no idea what that
would in tell). I haven’t had my coffee this morning.

Just a quick up date for the persons involved with the swap. One month has
passed and I have received 3 sets (2 plus mine). Again the tying deadline is
December 1.

If you have any questions, please let me know.

I've got a pattern book that contains a bunch of british patterns in it some
which might be older than the earliest American patterns. Do you want me to
check for you.

Oh, and I think there was a bunch of depends coupons with my AARP
membership ROFL... Seriously, I think I'll tie (If Jimmy D will have me
in
the swap) an old pattern. Can somebody give me some examples of some real
 old patterns??? Thanks,. Chuck

Jimmy: Yeah AARP does. This past April, when I turned 50 ,I started
getting mail wanting me to join the AARP almost every day. Talk
about depressing LOL.. I'd like to get in it if I can then.. Thanks,
 Chuck

Watch out, CHuck. Jimmy will let you in, but you'll have to flash
  your AARP card.
