Hi Tony, good to hear from you again. If I had a dock where big fish been

it. In our prayers.

Alan, We are not having a problem right here on the river, all creeks are
blown out. If they open the flood gates then we will worry. The last time they
opened the gated we had water under the sheds and in the yard. No damage to us
but some on the river lost their docks.Rene, will give Miss Dot a big huge for

Went fishing last Thursday and caught 7 and lost 8 or 9 more. My fishing
partner landed 4 but caught 3 more that had an early release. All rainbows. The
week before I only caught 2 or 3 and lost several more. But my partner landed
5, and lost several more. Found out that the dropper that was tied onto the
bend of the hook was causing the quick release. I am now tying the dropper to
the eye of the lead hook.  Read an article in a fly fishing book talking about
using a clear seed bead, and a tippet ring. Tie both on the tippet ring but one
shorter then the other and it eliminates the hooks getting fouled together.
Will try this as soon as I can find the two sizes of tippet rings I have. ( the
mind is a terrible thing to loose). Will be going out next Tuesday. I will be
fishing for Largemouth Bass as well as Trout.

Thank You,Alan Di SommaMesa, Az.
Some mistakes are just too much fun to make only once.

Have had a lot of rain here in New York. It has affected the hatches but have

I was out only once a week ago, with my oldest grandchild - thze boy is 3. So,

I hope, you folks had more time for fishing

Fishing here has not been too good.  We have had so much rain that the
Mississippi by La Crosse, Wi just lifted the No Wake regulations that have been
in place for a record 90 days.  Previous record was 46.  The trout streams are
running a four times normal flow.  That seems to have caused the hatches to be
off schedule.   Panfish spawning is affected too.  I have managed to catch a
few fish.  But nothing is happening at the normal times. Part of the challenge,
I guess.  A new (to me) fly I've tied is: Grillo's Hippie Stomper.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P4rilByk4hU  .  it was created for trout, but I
know it works for Bass.  My son in law has a pond behind his back yard and has
just started fly fishing.  i gave him two and he caught a nice three pound
Smallmouth on one.  Probably will work for Panfish too.   Tuesday I'm scheduled
to take two of my grandsons fishing.  We will go to a local pond and try for
Bluegills. Normally this would be a guaranteed success.  But you never know.
The last time I took them they wandered around the pond trying to catch frogs.
They had a great time.  Which is the whole point.  I remember doing the same
for crawdads when I was a kid in West Virginia.

2019-06-27 Thread Gary Webb
Rene thanks for the update. Great news on the growing family.
Grandchildren are great. Two of mine
want me to take them fishing this weekend. Ryan is eight and his brother
Declan is four. We'll go for
panfish. Might try a bit of Tenkara to expose them to fly fishing.
