Re: [VFB] Birdie fly plate?

2015-05-25 Thread Mike Bliss
I checked the records. I still have all the old docs for the IOFF that I did
and Birdie was not on the list. I am sure that no one would mind if he were
added. I would be happy to get some parchment and make up one for the swap and
add a fly. Let me know.
It was also kind of sad looking through the list of original members to the
IOFF. Several of them are gone like Mark and Murf.

Well, I just tied some flies with GSP thread. For this application I loved it.
It lays flat reducing buildup and is way strong. It is also a little

Re: [VFB] Chamois Midge

2014-12-12 Thread Mike Bliss
This is the case caddis and is one of my favorite patterns which from the
article you referenced in your other post made me curious about the chamois
midge. I love the first pattern and have not found a midge nymph pattern that
works well with the exception of a small rainbow warrior.

Re: [VFB] Chamois Midge

2014-12-12 Thread Mike Bliss
I wanted the pattern but this just increased my knowledge of the midges. Very
interesting. Our trout seem to be keying on these little buggers.

Does anyone have a pattern for this midge? Not the chamois caddis but midge.
Dave Whitlock created one but I cannot find it.

[VFB] Edgar Sealey & Sons hooks

2014-11-20 Thread Mike Bliss
I am organizing my tying materials. Years ago I picked up several boxes of
Edgar Sealey & Sons hooks. One box I am not sure what they are exactly. The
number is S3008. I don’t have a book that can tell me what they are. It looks
like a standard wet fly hook. Any help out there? Are they worth anything
other than for the hook?
