When a fish takes the fly the fisherman sets the hook, and is snagged in the side of the mouth by small, barbless, specially designed catch and release hook. According to the article the system was tested for years on thousands of fish caught, and mortality rates were far greater since the fish seldom is hooked in sensitive areas, and the release is very quick. [VFB] Re: Moffitt Angling System
We used to use the same type if hooking for Salmon that were hard to catch we called it lining a fish and yes it is snagging a fish but it is leagle to do because if a fish is snagged in front of the gill it's a leagle catch in Washing State. You don't need a fly on the line just cast behind a fish with a sink tip and let your leader float and as it breathes the line will go between it's jaws and set the hook. Not at all sporting but would catch a limit pretty quick for the freezer. - Original Message - From: "gary and joan smith" To: Sent: Sunday, June 14, 2009 12:10 AM Subject: [VFB] Re: Moffitt Angling System > > Will be interesting to see what New York will have to say about it. they > outlawed the J plug which is similar in set up. > Gary S. > - Original Message - > From: "LESTER BELL" > To: > Sent: Friday, June 12, 2009 10:53 AM > Subject: [VFB] Re: Moffitt Angling System > > >> >> Go to Moffitt's web site, www.moffittangling.com and check.
