I was cruising the
net and heard of a fly tying event called the
"Sparse
Grey Matter Fly Tying Festival" somewhere in New
Jersey, USA that is held annually (assuming it
is still
going on?) and the video I saw was from 2012.
Does anyone

know, first, is this still something that is
going on, and
second, where can I find details for the 2017
festival /
show? New Jersey isn't too far from where I'm at,
here in PA, and I tend to favor the
tying-themed, as opposed
to fishing-themed, shows. Plus it could be yet
another show
to add to my growing list of shows to attend.
Going to try

to make the November Somersett International Fly

Re: [VFB] Sparse Grey Matter Fly Tying Festival? Now Sowbug.

2016-10-06 Thread 'Anthony Spezio' via VFB Mail
Pete,
I know what you mean about driving. I don't drive anymore due to the problem I
am having and my wife is only able to drive real short distances so we pretty
much stay at home. I used to do up to ten shows a year but now I might just do
one local show. I will not be tying at the FFF Fair this weekend and it is just
25 miles from where I live. Like you, I get these spells and can't really be
with a lot of people around, I find it embarrassing to myself.
I am just getting older and it is catching up with me.
I know travel is hard but staying in this area is real reasonable. Great
fishing right from the back door. Nice clean little resort 1/2 mile from my
house is 50.00 a night for two people.

Re: [VFB] Sparse Grey Matter Fly Tying Festival?

2016-10-05 Thread 'Anthony Spezio' via VFB Mail
The Sowbug show will be celebrating 20 years in 2017. It will be a special
show. We would love to have you as a tyer. We expect to have over 140 tyers for
the three day show.

 I was cruising the
net and heard of a fly tying event called the "Sparse
Grey Matter Fly Tying Festival" somewhere in New
Jersey, USA that is held annually (assuming it is still
going on?) and the video I saw was from 2012.  Does anyone
know, first, is this still something that is going on, and
second, where can I find details for the 2017 festival /
show?  New Jersey isn't too far from where I'm at,
here in PA, and I tend to favor the tying-themed, as opposed
to fishing-themed, shows. Plus it could be yet another show
to add to my growing list of shows to attend.  Going to try
to make the November Somersett International Fly Tying
convention,  the other 2017 somersett show, and the
Lancaster PA march 2017 show.  Yep, it is only the start of
fall here, and I'm already itching for the shows.
Unfortunately, funds are keeping me from the Sowbug this
year, yet again.  On my bucket list, one of these
years. Thanks for any info on the "Sparse Grey
 Matter Fly Tying Festival",-Pete

Pete, you should plan to attend the Sowbug Roundup in Mountain Home, AR,
on March 23, 24 and 25, 2017.

Up to 100 tyers tying at a time, with close to 140-150 tyers
participating. Some of the tyers are nationally/internationally known.

It's a fly TYING convention.

Great local fishing, too.
