thanks jay, another thing i can say when i'm talking to fancy pants people On Wed, Jul 16, 2008 at 8:40 AM, Jay dedman [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: 12 billion videos served up online during May http://arstechnica.com/news.ars/post/20080715-12-billion-videos-served-up-online-during-may-says-comscore.html In many ways, the news isn't surprising at all. 2007 and 2008 have been the Year(s) of Online Video, seeing an explosion of new sites while the old ones continue to gain viewership. And, although certain sites may attract a different demographic than others (Nielsen Online recently found that men tend to prefer user-generated video sites while women prefer streaming TV sites), it certainly appears as if demand is big enough to accommodate most of them. Here's a follow-up on this from Tyamar. Be careful what you wish for, especially with Current TV ... Hi, I missed the broadcast of the video tonight, but was sent a link, and I have to say I'm a bit disappointed. The televised version was cut a little bit differently, with a different title, introduction and music, which was okay, but not great, and they made me a year older than I am. I know it's only a year, but still, couldn't they have made me a year younger? Well, here's the link: http://current.com/items/89109795_convicts_on_fire Let me know which version you like better. They were looking for a story that hadn't already been told by the mainstream media. I put the word out to other local producers, and started working on some story ideas. It wasn't until we went to the firefighters base camp to check out the scene that the story emerged, and it turned out to be an awesome story. A group of firefighters have been working behind the scenes without the glory and media attention of the other firefighters. Who are they? Find out: http://current.com/items/89095253_uncommon_heroes_of_the_california_wildfires Please take a minute to watch the video, leave a comment and rate it. The more feedback this story gets, the more likely that current will broadcast it on one of their television stations. So check it out, and pass it on. Thank you so much,

sarcastic voice Weee! I'm on TeeeV!/sarcastic voice Here's a question: Instead of selling the video to the typically lambasted Current.tv, who else would have been a better choice to push the video for some funds? Local PBS? On Thu, Jul 17, 2008 at 7:15 AM, Markus Sandy [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Here's a follow-up on this from Tyamar. Be careful what you wish for, especially with Current TV ... [videoblogging] Re: Vloggercamp Who is going?
Next year... I just got off the phone with Bill Densmore from UMass and the New England News Forum. He's planning a media conference for next June 3-6. We spoke about opening up the campus to compatible conferences like Podcamp and Vloggercon... He's interested... So I just wanted to put this out as an option for discussions on a future gatherings. --- In videoblogging@yahoogroups.com, Lauren Galanter [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: I'm sad to see it canceled, but I'd be game for an alternative plan as well if others are. Another camping thing, or...anything to do in St. Louis, since that's where people have their flights booked to?
