I don't want to end up a hostage of the camera manufacturer. Ideally, I'd also like to be able to use the pure h.264 without the need for conversion (downgrading quality) Outside of Apple, I'm not sure how people are getting their high def video to their computer, editing the file and then be able to output an HD file that can be viewed on more then just a computer screen. All the major players seem to be adopting H.264, so I want to build my content for that platform, but I'm struggling to figure out how to get my source content into my end solution. TiVo, Xbox360, and DivX have all come up with support for h.264 and .MKV seems to be the best way to make it portable. I'm open to other video conversion solutions, as long as they allow for the highest quality with multiple people building support around them. It could be that I end up going to the Mac, but AppleTV doesn't even play high def and I'd rather have my best quality footage in a high def format that can be seen by the most consumers. --- In videoblogging@yahoogroups.com, Gena compumaven...@... wrote: I was looking for something else and I found http://www.iorgsoft.com/Mod-Converter that has the ability to import MKV and possibly to export in that format as well. [videoblogging] NYC Area Videographers needed - 6/16!
Hi everybody-- I'm working with a charity called the Heart Gallery...you can check us out at: http://heartgallerynj.com/ Basically, we've got dozens of professional photographers (some world famous) who have volunteered to take portraits of New Jersey's hardest-to-place foster children. The photos become a traveling gallery show, as well as a website. We started this group two years ago, and (thanks largely to publicity from the Today Show, 20/20, CNN, MSNBC, the New York Times, USA Today, etc etc) 85 of the 350+ children we shot in our first go-round have now been adopted. We're gearing up to do it again, this time focusing on the 100 children who have been in the system the longest, in an attempt to find them a forever family before they turn 18 and age out...when they're left pretty much to fend for themselves. So where do videobloggers come in? This time around, we want to include little video bios of each kid on the website (hosted by blip, natch). We've got two professional shooters on board, but would love to have a third, especially one who can provide his or her own equipment. Unfortunately, I think this will require more than just regular folks with Xactis (or else I'd be doing it), rather, we're looking for people with documentary experience, pro-level cameras, and shotgun mics. And as if that isn't enough, we're looking for them to work cheap. Yes, there is pay, but it ain't much...it will certainly be below the day rate of many of the pros that I hope read this list. So if you're available to shoot next Saturday in Newark, please either respond here (ideally with a link to your work), or drop me an email...I'm happy to answer any questions about anything I may have left out. Thanks, everyone! --Ben

Hi Richard Have you tried placing the playhead before the spot needing to be rendered and pressing option P that should play the timeline frame by frame you can also try changing the RT option from Safe RT to Unlimited RT. That depending on your system will allow you to play most effects in real time. hope that helps Ben On May 16, 2006, at 3:40 PM, Richard (Show) Hall wrote: Ok, now I want to be clear that I am not posting a technical question in support of the out to lunch post ... I was complaining to some more skilled FCP users about the way you have to wait seven years (a slight exageration) for almost everything to render in FCP before you could preview it with the video while editing, whereas in Premier it would show you a pretty reasonable (though not as accurate) preview while you were editing and would wait and do all the rendering at the end. One or more of these FCP experts told me that there was a setting in FCP that would make it so that you could preview without this exact rendering, more like Premier. I emailed some of these experts, and, since they did not respond within 10 seconds, I grew impatient and decided to pose this question to the list. Any help, as always would be much appreciated. I found a great site that tells you how to make your own: http://www.stormforcepictures.com/howto-buildabluescreen.php and a place to buy paint for only $40 http://www.eefx.com/eefx2/store/cat_ck_p.html But, I want need my to be freestanding. Any ideas on how to do that? I've seen some online but they cost $250 or so, and if possible I would rather do it for less. 2. Need a handheld microphone or something that will allow me to interview folks and maintain good sound quality. I have one now and it's a piece of crap. So other then camera, adobe premiere elements, lavalier mic, greenscreen and nice handheld mic, can you think of anything else that I should considerbuying? [videoblogging] Verb Object (just kidding)
Hello all, My name's Ben Crowder and I've just joined your ranks as a videoblogger. About me: I'm an English major at Brigham Young University, planning to go on to get a masters in library science. I'm a programmer by trade but also have visions of grandeur of being a great [fill in the blank -- writer, artist, musician, linguist, etc.]. I used to use Windows, then switched to Linux for six or seven years, and about a year ago I converted to Mac and I'm never going back. Oh, and I'm a Mormon. I've been blogging for eight or nine months now and discovered videoblogs a few weeks ago, and I've got to say that vlogging is one of the coolest things I've seen in a long, long time. :) It has an incredible potential and I'm excited to see how it'll develop over the next few years. Anyway, my vlog is called Top of the Mountains and I posted my first video yesterday. Subjectwise, anything goes, but I suspect recurring topics will include books (I'm a diehard bookworm), tech stuff (Macs, programming, cool Internet stuff, whatever), and being a Mormon. I look forward to getting to know you (you meaning those who I actually do get to know, since I doubt I'll get to know all 1600+ of you :)) and spreading the word about videoblogging.
