Thank you, Mike. Everything is cool now. I'm not on the blip users group,
but I've subscribed to the blip.tv blog a couple of days ago. I'm glad to
know you have good relations with users. If anyone mentions blip.tv and
YouTube in the same caliber, they are living in another dimension. You do
excellent work and my only hope is that you will keep doing what you're
doing!

 Hey jayme,

Apologies for the late reply here. We dealt with this separately on the
blip-users group, and should have e-mailed the videoblogging group too
(there was a bad DNS entry out there for some people, we tracked it down
 and fixed it).

Anyway, separately, we always redirect videos to mirror sites. It's
part of the way that our video serving infrastructure works. If you're
having a problem with videos only downloading and not streaming please
e-mail [EMAIL PROTECTED] -- we'd be more than happy to take a look at the
 problem for you.

 Yours,

 Mike

I wonder what is going on? Last night my videos were re-directed to a
mirror site but they could only be downloaded, not streamed (I use WMV
and embed them into my vlog). That lasted several hours, now I just get
an error page.

Ack. Come back. Indeed! It makes me realize how much I rely on blip and
appreciate them!!!

I haven't tried it or heard anything because I don't have an iPod, but
thought you all might be interested in checking it out.

Re: [videoblogging] Re: How do you explain that ?

2005-10-16 Thread Jayme
Susan, this is the truth. I realize that I am in the habit of watching
FireANT instead of evening television! It's just so different, and different
is good. I watch one right after another, rarely stopping to leave comments.
That's not saying I never do, but it's getting more and more rare. I just
love watching videos and getting to know people through their videos.

Your videos rock, btw :o)

I think tools like FireANT that allow people to view vlog posts one-
after-another tend to curb people from making comments, because they
can just sit on the couch and watch all the vlog posts without having
 to touch their keyboard.

Want a funny visual? Susan, sitting on the couch, crocheting a new
winter blanket, with her laptop on the coffee table, and the day's
different vlog posts playing their way out on her screen while she
 works.

I am laughing so hard I am crying! This was the most hilarious video series

Re: [videoblogging] i need help

2005-10-05 Thread Jayme
Thanks so much for this information. I have been wondering how on earth I
could get my videos to play in Fireant -- and now it's all set up! Woo hoo!
I did have to change my feed address, so if anyone is subscribed or is
interested in subscribing to my vlog, the new feed address is
http://feeds.feedburner.com/blogspot/eyWW

Now, how do I get my vlog listed in Fireant's channel directory?

Also (because of this group) I just discovered castpost. I really like it
because it doesn't take viewers to a new page to view the videos. That has
been JUST the thing I've been looking for. Does anyone know why it's not as
popular as the rest of the free hosts? I wonder if I am overlooking
something.

Thanks a bunch! This group is teaching me so much!!!

a feed has nothing to do with getting people to upload video easily

see step 6 of freevlog for adding a feed, this will allow people to
subscribe to your vlog posts in FireAnt, iTunes, etc.

Re: [videoblogging] Re: ASF files in video editors

2005-09-22 Thread Jayme
Hi Gena,

It's a digital camcorder - SVP HDDV 8400, compact flash card.

I think you answered what my gut feeling was telling me -- that .asf is only
recognized by M$

I could possibly export from ShowBiz each video clip as an .avi file, then
open it in Premiere for editing. I haven't tried that yet. I was hoping that
my feeling was wrong about the .asf format.

Thanks,

Jayme

What is the name and model number of the camera that you purchased?

Is it a digital camcorder - one that uses tape?

Is it a memory card camcorder - one that uses Compact Flash, SD or XD
 memory cards?

.asf is an older Windows video format. It is no longer used by anyone
 except M$.

QuickTime can't read that format. It can read Windows .avi video format.

 QuickTime can't read M$ .wmv

 More details please.

ArcSoft Showbiz, and it accepts this format. Windows Movie Maker
does too, though I hate using that program. I want to get Quicktime
Pro for Windows, but I don't see that file format listed on their

cheap little camcorder use such a strange format? Is it because it's
 cheap?

Frank, this was a wonderful post. I can't thank you enough for such an
extensive, clear, and detailed answer to my newbie question.

I decided to stick with Showbiz for now since I know someone else
