Re: [videoblogging] Re: FCP XDCAM EX Export problems - Interlacing???
thank you steve will try it! Jill On Mon, Apr 21, 2008 at 4:55 PM, Steve Watkins [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: I just managed to use compressor to get 1080 footage that isnt interlaced anymore. The settings are a tad fiddly, and I suspect that there arent too many people wanting to export at that size anyway, as the files will be quite big and wont play on many computer. So yeah it comes down to what video format you are trying to export to, and its purpose. If you are trying to export in the same format as the camera uses, just as someone with a DV camera may export back to a DV format file, then its completely normal that you will retain the interlacing, and it will not look so good when played back on the computer. But that doesnt matter, as this stuff is for archiving and future editing or whatever, not the format you will distribute or watch the stuff in. Likewise when it becomes more normal for people to burn their HD footage to blueray disc, you will also be fine leaving 1080 stuff interlaced, as blueray players are already used to interlaced 1080 footage and will play it on a TV ok. And software that plays back HD discs on computers usually has deinterlacing built in during playback. So yeah its mostly when were dealing with formats to show via the web that these interlacing issues need attention. So if you describe how you currently export from FCP, I can give more detailed solution instead of just boring on about interlacing in general ;) Please dont let my long-windedness put you off, I think I could make putting on socks sound complex! Well in this sick perverted world where people are willing to be DUMB enough to show up AT A STRANGE HOUSE (Some of 'em ALREADY NAKED BEFORE THEY EVEN REACH THE FRONT DOOR) to have sex with someone they've NEVER met except in a chat room on the Internet who claims to be an *ahem* adult - ONLY to be subjected to an interview by a journalist and humuliaton of being put on NATIONAL TV and later arrest by law enforcement, NOTHING would surprise me. Nothing more. Nothing less. :D So we shouldn't talk about something so fundamentally human because of a scary, tabloid television show? From what Jill is saying, sounds like YouTube's flagging system is like it's DMCA takedown system. Bullies can use it to get rid of things they don't like and the creator has no say. And that sucks. I've been on YouTube for a year now. And I've been trying to find the line. I talk graphically about sex in many of my videos. I use words like fuck and dick and pussy. A lot of my stuff is pure trash. But none of it has been taken down. In fact, I just got featured! But I've been living with the constant fear that my channel will be deleted. Well, it's not really a fear. I expect it to happen. So I've been uploading my videos to blip.tv as well. They treat you like an adult. They let you flag your own stuff.

You know, where the members of the audience have score boards and you get up there and read your precious poetry. And then you get the brutal truth. People hate it or love it. It's natural. That's what this niche stuff is about. Getting the YouTube feature is like performing at a stadium filled with idiots. It's a painful experience. But out of all those idiots there's a tiny percentage of weirdos who might be into your stuff. Continuing this analogy further, I have no desire to perform at staduims. But now that I've done it once, when I show up at the coffee shops, they'll be packed. My latest video has over 4,000 hits, a 4.5 star rating and extremely supportive comments. I'm proud of this one, take a look, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2B1J7oq99uQ http://www.detrimentalinformation.com/2007/11/shit_the_shoe.html Actually, I find Youtube user behaviour regularly depresses me about the future of online video. But then I'm a person who'd rather not see people antagonising each other on this list, and lots of other people think there's something revealing and interesting about that. So maybe I'm missing the whole point. Perhaps hateful Youtube users are really very fascinating and fun? It doesn't depress me. I try to imagine this anonymous crowd of hateful YouTube users. All I see is a bunch of teenagers. The future of online video? Those teenagers aren't going to be teenagers forever. It's going to mature. Might take a few more years though.
Re: [videoblogging] Re: Online Video Posting Sites, HELP NEEDED please! :)
Hi Rupert, I do not want to sound lame, but I am easily confused once someone mentions blocking IP addresses and RSS information. I made a video on youtube about they do not care about the community, as they never respond to my emails- which was about flagging. two hours later, they emailed me a generic response. There is nothing you can do about harassment. People are able to create an account in 5 mins. I have already sent out complaints on two separate users who would like to see me fail in life and make my video blogging experience miserable. There is one girl who's only purpose on youtube is to make hate videos about me. Someone I do not think that is fair or right? Plus she spams and harasses my friends and family members on there. I have more positive then negative influences on their, but it's the negative ones that really get to you. I would love to talk to Steve Chen, I do not think the people at youtube really understand harassment and stalkers. I had one fan fly from england to meet me. I didn't want to meet him and he got so angry that now he trolls me on youtube and any other site and makes my life miserable. That is not normal. Sorry for this long rant. I do not want to disable comments because there are a lot of great friends I have. But I am looking into posting my work vlogs on Blip.tv. If you could further explain blocking IP's that would be great... if you want to take if off this list, so no one gets annoyed, my email is [EMAIL PROTECTED] Thank you, Jill On 11/14/07, Rupert Howe [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Hey Jill, YouTube comments suck at the best of times - I can't imagine what it's like to be persistently harrassed by the same people there. I wish someone would take this up with Steve Chen at the NewTeeVee Live event in the next couple of days. The hater situation needs serious addressing there, and they don't seem to care. It's the single worst thing about YouTube. Have you been in touch with YouTube support, to block your stalkers/haters and to check with them that your site won't be taken down because it doesn't violate their TC? As far as I know, especially if they're aware that there's a problem, they'll check before taking down videos that are flagged as inappropriate. And have you thought of disabling comments on YouTube and embedding your YT videos on a blog, where you can control comments and also design a great site around them? If you set up a blog on Wordpress, you can block certain IP addresses from sending comments. IP address blocks are a lot harder for people to get around than just blocking their account on YouTube - the average person can't just create another IP address the way they can create a new YouTube account. That means you can also still continue to host your videos on YouTube and keep all your subscribers - just disable all comments there and directing people in your videos to comment at your blog instead of at Youtube. to raise the volume on imovie- go to editing- then audio fx - click on graphic eq- and raise all the bars all the way up- click on the clip you want the volume raised and then hit preview if you like it, click apply :) Jill - On 11/9/07, Bill Cammack [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: To raise the sound of a clip higher than you can get it with the bar, double it. After maximizing the volume of the individual clip, copy it and paste it to the next audio track, exactly under where the original is. Doubling the volume also doubles the backgound noise. If that's not loud enough, make another copy, etc etc. -- Bill Cammack http://CammackMediaGroup.com --- In videoblogging@yahoogroups.com, scoobyfox [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: I've already raised the sound bar as far as i can. weneedgirlfriends are my friends- as far as i know they pay for their own production, though i know they are trying to cut a tv deal- they may have been picked up by a management team.
