[videoblogging] Re: any vlogers in new orlens?

2005-08-30 Thread Troy LeMaire
Hey Everyone,

I created a section for Hurricane Katrina on the VLogList.com
forum. So far I posted my Hurricane Outerwall video which is on my
blog and on the main page. I also got in some pictures today of
Grande Isle and Port Fourchon, which are directly on the Gulf of
Mexico. If you look at Louisiana as a boot or foot, then this is
the area that would be the front part of the ball of the foot. This
is really devistating and there was alot of power in the storm and
the water.

Grande Isle is home to the annual Tarpon Rodeo, which brings in
yachts from all over the gulf south.

Port Fourchon is the place where many people leave to go out to oil
rigs in the Gulf of Mexico. It is known by everybody who has ever
had anything to do with the oil field.

Re: [videoblogging] Webcam for Windows XP?

2005-08-30 Thread Troy LeMaire
I have the Logitech and it has a built in Microphone.
It is a good quality webcam. The only thing I would
say to make it more professional of a video, would be
to get a camera that doesn't have a built in
Microphone. An external microphone will make the
sound more adjustable.

Also, for some reason, it makes me look more bald then
when I look in the mirror. I don't know if this is
the webcams fault.

Re: [videoblogging] if you saw a rss feed on hunting sponsored by john deer

2005-08-29 Thread Troy LeMaire
It depended on the content. If it was about using
John Deere ATV's then I would have no interest. If it
was on the proper way to use a duck call and the
comparison's between the different brands of duck
calls, I would probrably subscribe.

The matter of being offended would not even cross my
mind. It is all about the content to me.
Commercialism of VLogging is inevitable, in my
opinion. Call me a sellout, but I am sure you will
find much bigger sellouts within 2 years in the
VLogoSphere.

As I stated before, the file is big(18MB), so if you have any
suggestions on compression, I would appreciate it.

Thanks,

I just went make a video off from my camera about the look of Katrina

2005-08-26 Thread Troy LeMaire
I don't see a red flag, but I do see some possible short term growth
pains. Even with the technology side covered as you speak of, it
won't be an easy road. But, if you plan your @ss off, like it seems
you are doing, then it will be that much easier to get over this
short term growth hump.

It really is interesting to see the birth and growth of a technology
while still being able to hear from the actual people who are
creating the revolution. I would compare it to being able to listen
to the thoughts of Marc Andreesen or Jerry Yang back in 1994. Not
saying that you are destined for anything, but it is an interesting
time.

[videoblogging] Re: Money Talk

2005-08-11 Thread Troy LeMaire

I won't flame, I appreciate the link to the other group.  You could
have been a little smoother in your delivery, but it's not like you
cussed someone out.

Jay,  maybe it would be good to put up links in the "Links" section
for other Yahoo Groups that are geared toward VLogging.  This is the
second group I learn about that is more of a niche discussion on
VLogging.

[videoblogging] Re: Veoh Networks Announces Financing - Get ready to upload your video

2005-08-11 Thread Troy LeMaire

Sull,

Do you see either hardvlogs or softvlogs, as you put it, pulling the
majority of revenue.  To me, after the VLog Market/Genre matures, it
will be hard for people with the low res videos to not join up with
some kind of network like Veoh to produce revenue.

While I have been viewing blogs lately, I have seem some amazing,
artful post, but I think, how will this eventually bring in revenue.
Sure, some people will not be interested in becoming rich, but
eventually the cost of posting are going to catch up with them

[videoblogging] Re: press releases

2005-08-10 Thread Troy LeMaire

Well, personally, I will never forget the discussion that started when
I announced what I had to offer.  Short term it s*cked, but long term I
came away with some really great feedback.

I definitely realized quick, how not to do things.  I find it
interesting the point that Clint made.  For a discussion group sometime
it seems very open, but sometimes it is a very closed off place.

my 2 cents

[videoblogging] Re: VLog Category

2005-08-08 Thread Troy LeMaire

Sull,

First off, money is not my motivation.  I could earn alot more money
by concentrating my efforts on my 2 retail sites.  So, this still
goes to question, what is my motivation.

Well, my motivation is to build something.  I know it is a cliche,
but in "Pretty Woman", when Richard Gere is asked what does he build,
he is dumbfounded for an answer.  This is how I feel sometimes.  I
suck at carpentry, I suck at most things mechanical, so my only
option is to build something in the virtual world.

Steph,

I don't know what is going to seperate me from the rest.  My goal
right now is just to create a good community and portal site for
VLogs.  I guess I need to look at the steps it takes to arrive at
this point.

Thanks for the feedback from both of you, it is much appreciated.

[videoblogging] Re: Disclosures, disclosures

2005-08-08 Thread Troy LeMaire

Hey Everyone,

Most people will already think that they know my disclosure, but as
with alot of things on the internet, it is a little misleading, but
in a good way.

Yes, I formed a directory, but not because I see big money coming my
way.  I have 2 retail websites and a full time job that provide more
than enough monetary incentive.  I have been wanting to form a
community of some kind for a while, something that will not be about
money, that I can keep up with.

When I saw the community of VLogging, my business mindframe saw the
business potential immediately.  Not from a exploit perspective, but
from a business tool perspective and helping others perspective.

Currently, my boat is broken, and I have no idea how to break it
down, I hope in a couple of years, either the manufacturer or a
VLogger, will put up a VLog on how to break down my motor.  Then I
can carry an IPod or other portable video unit outside and watch a
VLog on how to break it down.

This is the side of VLogging I am interested in, how to help people.
How to educate.  How to help some guy in south Louisiana get his boat
running so he can go out and catch some fish instead of sitting in
front of the computer obsessively!!! Sorry, I got off on a tangent
there.

My background is, born and raised in Louisiana, entered Air Force at
20, stationed at Nellis AFB in Las Vegas for 3 years, then
transferred to Colorodo Springs for 2 years, during the beginning of
the dotcom era.  Do you know that Colorado Springs comes in 2nd to
Silicon Valley for most amount of CS majors per capita?

Got out of the Air Force and moved back home.  Currently a IS Manager
for a hospital.

[videoblogging] VLog Category

2005-08-07 Thread Troy LeMaire

Hey Everyone,

While I have been adding links to the directory, I have noticed that
there are many VLogs that are dedicated to Political or Religious
subjects.  I see both of these niches growing because of the
Grassroots of Politics and the Visual Aspect of the religious VLogs.
So, my question is, should I add these categories to the directory or
leave them categorized as General?

I am also thinking of adding this question to my forum as a poll
question.  Since I am already on this ice, is it appropriate to post
a
message here that I have a poll setup on VLogList?  Just let me know,
since this is a great resource and feedback avenue for me, I don't
want to abuse anybody's time or email.

Troy
