powerbooks haven't used a crossover cable since the lombard. just use 
a regular cable.

Do you have a local network their connected to?  (For instance, I have
a cable modem that goes internally to a wireless router along with
wired ethernet connections.  I can transfer across the network between
Mac and PC.)
