Dang. I get nuthin' of the sort over at the Faux Press.

Interesting that these wackos search out feminist, eros accepting, political
bloggers.

Grrr.

Depending on the blogging platform you use, you can give
Akismet a try. It's pretty effective in dealing with this kind of
 drivel in comments.

 Keep up the spirit!

Way, way back when CompuServe still mattered, I hung out there providing a
company presence in a couple of technical forums. Once a guy invited me for
a private chat, I assumed because he had a technical question. Then he
immediately wrote I can suck my own cock. I was so startled I simply
dumped out of the chat, but in retrospect wish I had said: You must be fun
at parties or something similarly ironic.

I haven't been harassed much; the fact that my site isn't really constructed
to encourage comment conversations is probably a factor. I pre-moderate all
comments and simply erase the trolls before they ever get started.

My quick observations:
When Dylan got a lot of publicity she also got a handful of the worst
threatening and explicit comments. We just deleted them and went on
with life. Once the publicity stopped, so did the comments.

As a man, I've never had threatening comments on my blog. I did
however get a few gross/nasty comments on the video where I got naked
and in the comments on digg where one video made it to the front page.

So in my little experience it seems to be somewhat a function of
popularity. Also it seems much worse for women rather than men.

i occasionally get some rude ones and by occasionally i mean once in a blue
moon
but never anything that i feel threatened by.

i'm just glad i don't post on youtube
there are some women on there who get trashed, for just talking about life
to the camera
and from what i can tell, you can't moderate your own comments on youtube.
which for me as a woman is a big no no.

this is why i love my blog
i can control things more.

and i rarely reject a comment, no matter if they agree with me or not
if they are spam or are being unconstructive to the conversation
you're ugly! then they get deleted.

Well I get comments from my videos and etc.. They are trying to stir
something up ..it sucks to get those comments, but I try not to let it
bother me, and I don't respond back.. so I just delete the comments..

I think that it is a matter of time. I am getting hit with a lot of
male enhancement spam and some perv in the UK who post crap in the

I also know that certain type of women bloggers get a vicious amount
of attacks in their comments. If you write about feminism, sexuality
or politics - no matter what your party you tend to attract lower
common denominator crude.

I think we can decide what we will and will not accept in our blogs.
We also need to keep our safety in mind. It is a balance. But women
vloggers and bloggers are here to stay.
