Congratulations on the investment and good luck for your future.
I've got 29 videos hosted on blip and by this time next year I hope
to have 200+.

First of all, some good news: I'm going full-time. I gave notice at
my day job last week, and my last day is a week from tomorrow. In
the
meantime, I'm taking more time on blip than I have in the past
(since
 everyone knows about it now!)

The second piece of good news: we are signing a contract with a
major
Tier One ISP for a new feed that should completely solve our current
performance problems. They promise installation in three days, but
it
could take longer if our current ISP drags their feet in terms of
installation. Either way, within a few days, our performance
problems
should be a thing of the past.

In the meantime, we're still distributing load across two ISPs at
two
different locations, and tuning our process for doing so. We're
getting much better at it, but with the amount of content we're
pushing it's tough going. The new installation will solve this
problem, and we're doing everything we can between now and then to
 make things fast.

If you guys have any questions, concerns, problems, feedback,
whatever, please feel free to call me on my personal cell phone. My

Please don't hesitate to call or IM. You guys are our business, and
it pains me to have any problems at all in serving you. We have
investment dollars now, we have new feeds coming in, we have people
full-time. The performance problems are temporary. What's not
temporary is our commitment to you and videoblogging in general.

Hey Susan,

Thanks! We don't have a donation button right now because we're
afraid it'll seem unprofessional... but we're really, really happy
that people are willing to donate :)

I really like the idea of time released posts. As soon as we finish
our infrastructure upgrades, this will go on our development list.
Very nice.

As far as EE support, I know we keep chatting about it, and I have to
work on it. EE is weird in the way it implements the Blogger API, but
we'll address it as soon as we can.

Hey Andreas,

We're going to add EE support as soon as we can, but they do weird
things in their actual implementation of the Blogger API. Susan and I
have spent a bunch of time on IM working on it, and we're still
tracking down some of the oddities. So stay tuned.

Thanks for the recommendations!

2006-02-24 Thread mikehudack
Hey Sull,

First of all, thanks :)

As far as professional / premium accounts, we'll be doing them soon,
but they're not our chief focus at the moment -- right now we're very
much concentrating on building the back-end business side of things
along with our infrastructure. Pro accounts are coming, though.

As for throughput, we're dedicated to having plenty of throughput for
everyone, and we have no intention of limiting individual throughput.
I can tell you that we're getting an additional dedicated line for
use in serving videos, and that based on current usage it'll give us
150% of our required bandwidth.
