Wise list. I'm working up some guidelines for blip.tv's recommended
settings for making an original upload version, mostly with QT. I'm
heavily copying JetSet's and Apple TV.

I'd love to have your thoughts or settings for services such as
blip.tv that do not alter your original upload and work with the
beginnings of hi res living room tech like Apple TV.

My draft
------------------------------------
Format = QuickTime
Extension = .mov
CODEC = h.264 baby!
Size = 640 pixels wide. Height depends on your favored aspect ratio.
16:9 = 640x360. 4:3=640x480.
Deinterlace no matter what? sometimes makes it worse

Audio = AAC audio, 48kHz. Render settings = Best. Target bit rate =
128+. Mono or stereo depending on mic used to record.

Key frame interval = 5. Or up to 24, or auto. Lower is better.
Frame rate: Current
Frame Controls: Off (or on to deinterlace using progressive?)
Multi-pass: On
Frame reorder: On
Data rate: 2.000 (Mbps). Higher better.
Fast Start: On

Other Formats
Don't forget a original resolution master for every episode.

Windows Media Player (.wmv) version if you can to give people choices
on a PC. <a

Movie Maker Export Settings</a>.

iPod version: .m4v version for iPods using QuickTime's "iPod"
settings. If you have a blip.tv Pro account we'll do this for you.
