[videoblogging] video editing software for news type podcast
Hi videobloggers, Can anyone recommend video editing software for a news bulletin style show? Something that can put in a backdrop and have upper corner pictures added in, all that newsy stuff? Any input would be appreciated. Thank you, Dina Prioste Get Exercised with me at: http://getexercised.com/ [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

Hello Dina, You might want to try out BoinxTV for Mac. It starts at $199 for a sponsored edition, which is what I got: http://www.boinx.com/boinxtv/ My performance artist friend Chris Barr used it for his pseudo news network show at an art gallery: http://www.everyonethatweknow.com -- Kevin Lim Cyberculturalist http://theory.isthereason.com // @brainopera This email is: [ ] bloggable[X] ask first [ ] private On Fri, Mar 5, 2010 at 9:47 PM, Dina P. montecristo...@yahoo.com wrote: Hi videobloggers, Can anyone recommend video editing software for a news bulletin style show? If you are on PC you can use vegas - 'track motion' easily does the picture in picture stuff. Green screen compositing is pretty easy too. Scrolling text not so much so. But I now The Onion use it for their stuff. j On Fri, Mar 5, 2010 at 10:56 PM, Kevin Lim brainop...@gmail.com wrote: Hello Dina, You might want to try out BoinxTV for Mac. Re: [videoblogging] Video editing software
Is free small enough? Try using Windows MovieMaker before dropping a dime on other software. Then hit up the free trial of Sony Vegas for 30 days. Rather than try the full version of Vegas I would suggest the consumer version .. Vegas Movie Studio (also available as a 'try-it-out' download) It's a *lot* cheaper than the full version, and will do 95% of what the full version can do (for most of what you are likely to need) Richard Amirault Boston, MA, USA http://n1jdu.org http://bostonfandom.org http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J7hf9u2ZdlQ
Re: [videoblogging] Video editing software
I'm generally pretty happy with Video Edit Magic. I also use the consumer version of Sony Vegas. I have an old copy of Premiere that I go back to from time to time. I have an old copy of Main Actor that is nice. (Main Actor 5 is not so great.) I use Windows Movie Maker a lot. I use the free wmv tools from microsoft and numerous other free tools that I find at www.videohelp.com Does anyone here use AVIsynth? I never tried it on account of it being command line without a GUI. Lil www.QuarterHorsevideos.com
[videoblogging] Video editing software for Linux needs your help
Gabriel is a brit who lives in Barzil. he's been coding LiVES for the past several years. it's video editing software for Linux. anyone on Linux can try it out now. He's trying to get to 1.0, but needs some financial support ($4500). http://lives.sourceforge.net/livesfund.html see details below. be great to have a free and open software video editor that worked well. Jay Hi all, I have just launched the LiVES fundraising drive for the 1.0 release. The aim is to raise sufficient funds to cover the following: - development work for the 1.0 release (mixing of foreground and background generators from the keyboard, instant opening of some video types, multiple audio channels and mixing of audio). - production of a complete user manual for LiVES - new artwork for LiVES 1.0 - a 6 part videoblog with LiVES tips, development, and other interesting features for more details, please see: http://lives.sourceforge.net/livesfund.html Thank you for your attention ! Thanks, Nox -- Tom Gosse [EMAIL PROTECTED] I'm using Linux as my primary operating system now. My Windoze machine died, I lost a lot of video editing software and I can't afford $300 to $500 to upgrade to Vista. Here is a link to a site about movies on Linux: http://linuxmovies.org From what I've read, and I haven't read everything, there are no programs for Linux that compare to Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, or Apple's Final Cut Pro. The really good programs used by the big studios in Hollywood are all proprietary software developed especially for them. I've just installed Kino but haven't had a chance to play with it yet. I don't think Linux will have any really good video editing programs for the average user for quite some time. For one thing, the installed base of home desktop users is too small. Because Linux is a more efficient OS it doesn't have a lot of routines that automatically install and tweak programs for the user. You need to get under the hood and do a lot of tweaking on your own. That's more work than the average user wants to do. As one friend of mine put it: he want's to edit video, not learn how to program the Bash shell. Good luck, and keep us posted on how goes your editing on Linux. Tom Gosse [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Re: [videoblogging] Video editing
A lot of people like Sony Vegas and they have a lite version that's well spoken of. Not sure if it's under $100 but it's in that range. I don't have expereince with Vegas personally, but again, it's highly regarded by a lot of people who are a lot more knowledgable and competant than I. -m On 1/22/06, jaguarfan888 [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: I'm looking into purchasing some new editing software because I'm quite fed up with windows movie maker, does anyone know of any really good editing programs that export in the quicktime format and cost less than $100?
