[videoblogging] Want to help?

2006-12-26 Thread Sanford Dickert
All -

Been spending time over the past ten days going through every site I listed
on politicalwarez.com and realized that there is almost no way to make this
up-to-date by myself.

BUT - instead of keeping it on my site, I moved it to Pbwiki and set up a
nmber of the pages with each section with it's own page. You can see it at
http://socialmediaspace.pbwiki.com and the password if socialmedia.

If you wish to update, add, contribute, whatever - please feel free. I will
continue to add to it as I get more information - and if you want to
contribute, please add your name to the Contributors page.

Alive in Baghdad is entering its next phase. Its founder Brian Conley
journeyed to Jordan and Iraq to document the experiences of Iraqis and
make face to face contact with Iraqis. As the violence expands and
news bureaus contract, Iraqis themselves will have to pick up the
slack if those outside the country are to take notice and better
comprehend the violence in their country.

We hope to supply Iraqis with digital still cameras and video cameras,
to produce media describing their lives and providing insight into
their daily struggles. As well as providing media equipment to
bloggers who have already demonstrated a dedication to informing the
outside world about the lives of Iraqis, Alive in Baghdad is working
on fostering other contacts outside this network. We are asking that
people in the United States with access to cameras, whether the
capital to purchase new ones, or secondary cameras they have laying
around the house, donate this equipment to Alive in Baghdad.

Although you may consider the camera fairly low quality, even 1
megapixel cameras could be providing 1 megapixel of insight we didn't
have about Iraqi life before. We also need minidv tapes and memory
cards.

If you don't have access to equipment, please consider making cash
donations via the Donate button at www.aliveinbaghdad.org
