My current process is to edit the raw DV footage in Roxio VideoWave
(part of the Easy Creator package but apparently a light version is
also bundled with some cameras), save it out as DV again, then use
Sorenson Squeeze to compress into SWF and QuickTime Pro 7 to compress

Buying QTPro to convert your MovieMaker AVI files to VideoPod compatible formats is best.
If you want better software for editing then try Premiere ELEMENTS $99 QTPro.

Other alternatives are VideoStudio 9 by Ulead.com or Studio 10 by Pinnaclesys.com (both have free trials).
