Re: [videoblogging] Rev Share

2007-06-18 Thread Andrew Darlow
Hi Tim:

Thanks for this excellent info. Have you considered creating DVDs
from your content as well, and selling them on demand through
Lulu.com or another service? Amazon.com might have a service as well
for independent artists http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_hb5057/
is_199907/ai_n18413473. As long as you have the rights to
distribute, that might work out very well for you. You could do a
compilation of all the videos, plus deleted scenes, different angles
and possibly director and actor commentary. You could also add a DVD
only special French Maid episode. You could even do a French Maid
episode that describes how an independent filmmaker can make a DVD
for sale, from storyboards to DVD art creation, and end with an
explanation of how to order the DVD online. Voila.

All the best,

Andrew

I'm still not sure about the math at Revver it seems to vary but I am
 getting paid.

What I've found on Revver is that shorter videos make more money
because more people tend to watch to the end and click on the ad.
Take for example our video at Revver titled Free Downloads http://
one.revver.com/watch/182008/flv it's a promo that has been viewed
297468 times. It has had 213406 completed views, 27362 ad clicks and
 has made $4389.83.

Now on the other hand How to Find Music You Like http://
 one.revver.com/watch/119146/flv has had 1363678 views, 53902
completed views, 3087 ad clicks and has made $607.89.

I think this could change as both bandwidth delivery and my content
 get better but who knows?

Revver.com has been great to me. They are very cool but I'm curious
how much money I'm leaving on the table by not putting my content
everywhere I can get paid for it. - You know you don't just buy DVD's
 at Blockbuster anymore.

But on the other side of that there's also an argument for having
exclusive content that is only available on your site as this will
increase your traffic and allow you to sell advertising there. Take a
look at Ask a Ninja. They got a big deal because their site gets lots
of traffic and they have some really funny content that 12 - 18
year old boys love. I think they have made money at Revver as well.

I'm still curious, is anyone getting paid from BlipTV? Veoh? YouTube?
 Bueller? Bueller? Anyone?

I've been very happy with Revver.com and I'm getting paid well
(more than my rent) but I'm
curious about other sites and if people are happy with them.
I'll be more than happy to discuss this offline or via email if
 it makes it more comfortable.

 good question.
what i'm looking for is a chart that says if your video gets seen x
amount of times in x days, you get x dollars.

or if you get x clicks, you get x dollars.

tim, would you mind sharing some numbers with us?
i know a lot of people would love to get their rent paidbut how
 many viwers/clicks does this take?

Hi again Tim:

Here's more info about Amazon's DVD on-demand system for content
creators. Seems like you can also distribute through their Unbox
video on demand program. http://www.customflix.com/Help/DVD/FAQ.jsp

Very interesting opportunities.

All the best,
