[Videolib] Tivli

Tivli is a cable TV streaming service that has targeted universities as their
market. See: http://edu.tivli.com/

I have been asked if anybody knows of universities, other than Harvard and
Yale, that have subscribed campus-wide to Tivli. See Brian Stelter’s article
in the New York Times, “Startup Puts Streaming TV on Campus”
http://www.nytimes.com/2013/01/28/business/media/tivli-puts-streaming-tv-on-campus.html?ref=technology&_r=0
  .

VIDEOLIB is intended to encourage the broad and lively discussion of issues
relating to the selection, evaluation, acquisition, bibliographic control,
preservation, and use of current and evolving video formats in libraries and
related institutions. It is hoped that the list will serve as an effective
working tool for video librarians, as well as a channel of communication
between libraries, educational institutions, and video producers and
distributors.

Re: [Videolib] Does anyone else own the Explorations of the Shadow World series?

2013-01-29 Thread Brian W Boling
I agree that this is a poorly designed and confusing menu (especially for
the price of the set). Still, it appears the content is available.

For now, I have decided to add these labels to our copies:

1) *The Wild Party* production is found in the extras menu. The main menu
plays a "behind the scenes" film.
2) The *Mayadanawa* production opens with several minutes of "behind the
scenes" footage.

An inconvenient workaround to be sure, but one that I hope will limit
patron confusion. Thank you for the heads up!

Let me know if there's any traction on a reissue.

[Videolib] Poetry of Nora Naranjo-Morse

2013-01-29 Thread Rhonda Pancoe
Hello,
Does anybody know where I might find video of Nora Naranjo-Morse reading
her poetry. On YouTube there is a short clip but it unfortunately cuts off
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i3gHRNeeTuM which I think is part of a
Native Writers Series.

I have contacted the Smithsonian Institute but haven't heard back yet.
Just wondering if anyone out there might know where I could get a copy or
who to contact.
