Hey Jacki

I'm very familiar with your work (we own a copy in the Media Center)...it
definitely fits. Not sure whether my friend is just interested in
mainstream features, but if not, I'll definitely recommend your film.

[Videolib] Films about "words"

2010-11-01 Thread Jacki Ochs

Hi Gary,

At the risk of seeming self serving, my film LETTERS NOT ABOUT LOVE,
is an experimental documentary about words based on a correspondence
between two poets, Berkeley's own Prof - Lyn Hejinian - and Russian
poet Arkadii Dragomoshchenko. I gave them a list of words and asked
them to write to one another about their meaning in the context of
their lives and cultures. That correspondence took five years and is
the basis of a script narrated by actors Lili Taylor and Victor
Nord. No sync. A lot of montage. You can't get more word focused
than this, but it may not be what you had in mind. (it's New
Day... ) are we supposed to put links on this listserv? here's one,
just in case: http://www.newday.com/films/LettersNotAboutLove.html
My apologies if that's a no no.
