Re: [Videolib] Media Market 2010
The location in KC was ideal, too! Lots to enjoy within walking distance or a short cab ride -- the Plaza a few blocks away, a park right across the street, Westport bars & shops just up the street. And as Farhad mentioned, free cocktail hour each night at the Embassy Suites, plus the Boulevard Brewery was fun, Missie B's was a hoot... AND we got to preview dozens and dozens of fantastic new docs! What more could a person want? Seriously, NMM is a wonderful event. Some of you who are from smaller institutions might think it's not worth your while, but I would argue that it is. If a budget is relatively small, what better way to ensure that you're spending it wisely than to preview in depth, talk with other purchasers and snag conference discounts? Come along next year! And yes, more thanks to Ursula and crew are due! It was a great experience for me indeed as a first timer. How wonderful to meet people in person on both sides of the spectrum, librarians and the publishers, whom I communicate with everyday by email, fax or mail. I was lucky to meet with Christine Crowley and use her knowledge and expertise in the field. I even found a fellow Wagnerite among the publishers' representatives. We talked a lot about Wagner operas over breakfast. Finally, I have to mention how much I enjoyed the free beer everyday! So, thank you all, organizers and attendees for making this a wonderful experience for me.
